Peaches and Herb(s)

My herb garden is exploding with goodness! I have fresh basil and parsley whenever I want some, a load of thyme I don’t know what to do with yet, and TONS of oregano. I harvested a bunch of it last…

Show us your books: August 2018

I eked out five books this month. My Seattle trip was heavy on the socializing, and I actually watched a movie on the flight back instead of reading. It was Game Night. It was funny enough and had my problematic…

Currently, summer night edition

Relaxing out in the yard. I feel like we did a lot of outdoor work early in the summer, such as planting grass and ripping out 10,000 dandelions and setting up herb gardens, so it would be a shame to…

Friday 5: Repeat

Happy Friday! On Saturday. Yeah. I’m glad this week is over, as Ollie had dental cleaning/extractions on Tuesday. This is the capstone of our multi-month effort to make Ollie feel better. He’s been suffering from ear infections and neck pain…

Market Tulips

This is a print I bought from Scott Lantz at Pike Place Market. If I lived in Seattle, or had gone to the market at the beginning of my trip, I’d have bought flowers. This is even better. His website…

Seattle 2018

As we did in 2017 and 2016 (I didn’t blog that) WM and I went to Seattle to visit our friends last week. It was a great trip, expensively extended by a day due to a cancelled flight. This post…

Friday 5: Performance Evaluation

Hi! Time to get back into the swing of real-ish time blogging after a bunch of scheduled posts designed to mask the fact that we were in Seattle on vacation. (That lily? Died 3 weeks ago.) I used to liveblog…

Philadelphia Rail Park

Some good folks in Philadelphia are taking old rail lines and turning them into a park! You: New York has already done that. Me: Whatever. Killjoy. Phase 1 was finished about a month ago. It’s a close walk from my…

Facebook fail

Although I try really hard to avoid it, sometimes my social media friends have acquaintances who are … problematic. Usually I ignore them but sometimes they catch my eye with ridiculously crappy words and racist attitudes. Which is how I…

Our lily

This was a plant I rescued from our front lawn. As in, literally part of the lawn, being mowed every few weeks all summer long every year since we moved in 3 years ago. I put it in a pot…

Old Lady Russell is confused

Dave Matthews BandNow called Dad Rock released their new album last month! Hooray! And I like it! Hooray! I previewed it extensively by streaming it through Amazon Music and said, “Hey, Kim. BUY THAT ALBUM.” The iTunes store has the…

Friday 5: The Road to H. E. Double Hockeysticks

Happy Saturday! I had this lined up to do last night, but a few weeks ago I saw 3 NYT Crossword puzzle books that weren’t even touched so I’m forcing myself to do a page a day so I can…

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)

Well, that happened.
