Come and knock on my door!

October 24, 2006

I’ve been waiting for you…

I wanted to give you a bitty update on where the apartment stands. I mentioned before that it’s starting to look like a home. I’m actually proud of my little living room/kitchen now. (Bedroom’s still pretty Spartan. I’ll focus on that next)

So..welcome!

come and knock on my door!

Wait…something’s eerie here…

apt 666

Eeek! Not really my apt number, naturally. I’m a bit smarter than that. Not much, though, since any of us an be easily found online anymore.

shelves

Birthday gift from the aunt and cousins. I hung this mofo up myself. I had to put anchors in the wall to do it. I won’t tell you how many holes are behind the thing. Dead pet remains are top-shelf items here. The beanies, I suspect, will eventually give way to other things. Maybe some more dead pets if some orange cat doesn’t stop staring at my sofa and flexing his claws.

kitchen

Kitchen. You’ve seen it before. But now it features some new red things.

living room 1

Looking into my living room. I have a sofa now!

living room 2

The cubicals are from Target. That’s a 9-cube unit and an 8-cube unit. The red drawers are sold separately and hold files, extra picture frames…DVDs…porn…etc. As you can see, I still have the red piggy bank. And the lava lamp. And some Disney stuff. The bottom left cube is left empty for the prophet Elijah … or something like that. Eventually, I see these cubes holding books. The Picasso is from Bath and Body works, and I really need to pull that extra hook out of the wall. Seriously.

kim in her living room

Misty and me and an incredibly blank other wall. I love my sofa. I really do. I was worried that it’d be too much red, but it’s balancing out the white quite well. Here’s my theory…since the walls are white and the space is small, I wanted things that butt up against the wall (the shelves, my computer table, etc) to be white or very light in color so that it almost blends in with the walls.

So thanks to wise spending and generous family and friends, my little drawer in this big human filing cabinet is growing more gorgeous by the day. It’s come a long way.

And now it’s time for me to jump on the sofa and watch Dancing with the Stars.

Maybe everything’s going to be okay after all.

(Oh…I’m supposed to be at my Philosophy class tonight. D’oh!)

Your apartment is most assuredly starting to look like a home. Soooo, if the bedroom is Spartan, does that mean you have a sword and shield in there?
