Missing Charlie

I still hear him in his litterbox in the bathroom, scratching around and tossing litter all over the floor. We miss him at night when he doesn't sit by WM's feet. I miss his big fatness crammed in between the sofa and the wall. We ordered this fat orange cat statue. It goes with the meditating pig but more importantly it makes me remember my fat orange cat and smile. ...

Macabre musings

Macabre musing #1: This is the bag that Charlie's remains came in. Doesn't it look like it came from some swanky little artsy boutique? I'm tempted to carry my lunch to work in it and see if anyone notices. Macabre musing #2: (in bathroom, staring at new bathroom rug) Me: (sighs sadly) Now that Charlie's gone I can have a bathroom rug again. WM: If it makes you feel better, I'll pee on it. Macabre musing #3: (at Target) Me: (pulling cheap white towels off of a stack) Rather than pee pads, ...

Happy Charlie Day!

Today is July 1, the day I observe as Charlie Day! Seventeen years ago this month, Charlie came home with me. He holds the title as the non-related male who has been in my life the longest. Charlie has been with me through two marriages, three dogs, and four moves. Charlie loves plastic crinkly bags and freaking ADORES WM. I don't know when Charlie's exact birthday is because I wasn't his first owner. Charlie initially belonged to the president of the company I worked for at the time, and ...

Friday Five: Accessories

Happy Friday! The snow is melting! The temperature made it into the 50s today, which allowed me to finally walk to the library at lunch to renew my card. I really need to go there once a week. I also need to not wear the boots I wore today, because they were very loud. But now that my card's renewed, I can go back online and put some eBooks on hold. Living in the future is pretty sweet. Time for the Friday Five! This week's theme is Accessories... 1. What was the last computer accessory you ...

Friday Five: Mother Goose, May I?

Happy Friday! I watched The Sound of Music Live last night on NBC. I think Carrie Underwood did a great job singing the songs. Her acting wasn't great. I was VERY excited to see Stephen Moyer (aka Vampire Bill) as Captain Von Trapp, but his accent was slippery and he never looked like he had feelings for Maria other than "MUST PUNCH ALL THE THINGS." Most of the kids were okay. Usual garden-variety big lunged and creepily-precocious theater kids. Realizing (unlike many others) that this was an ...

Progress report

(I'm sitting on the sofa working a crossword puzzle.) Charlie: (softly) Mow. Me: Oh! Hey there, Boo! (scritches his head) Charlie: (softly) Mow. Me: What's up? Charlie: (softly) Mow? Me: (gets up, walks to kitchen) You have water. Charlie: Mow! Me: (noting the food dish is empty) Oh. Food. Charlie: Mow! Me: Well, see...I'm only giving you a certain amount of food per day, and... Charlie: Mrow? Me: It's just that you're getting... Wandering Minstrel (from Hobbiton, aka Lord of the Rings Online ...

Come and knock on my door!

I've been waiting for you... I wanted to give you a bitty update on where the apartment stands. I mentioned before that it's starting to look like a home. I'm actually proud of my little living room/kitchen now. (Bedroom's still pretty Spartan. I'll focus on that next) So..welcome! Wait...something's eerie here... Eeek! Not really my apt number, naturally. I'm a bit smarter than that. Not much, though, since any of us an be easily found online anymore. Birthday gift from the aunt and ...

fakin a smile with your coffee to go

Damn..the last few days have been absolutely craptastic. Anyway... 'Zat is the state of the kitchen. Note the Cookies sign above the nook (yes, there will be a cookiecam 2006) and the red cutting mat and red paper towel holder. I'm so thrilled with how these red accents are starting to look! Misty is loving the red ottoman. There are catnip toys all over the place, so both she and Charlie are perpetually stoned. But more importantly, I now own a television. A HDTV, to be exact. Next I ...

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)
