New Jersey Renaissance Faire

Yesterday we went to the NJ Renaissance Faire in Bordentown. It was held at Liberty Lake Day Camp, and if they had an adult program, I'd totally go there. Despite the blistering 91 degree temperature (which I love, because I love summer) we had a great time. I got to shoot a bow and arrow again, and I'm the only one in my group who actually hit the target. Yes, it was the outer edge of the target. And yes, the other 3 in my group were under the age of 8. You take your wins where you can, ...

Get thee behind me, rotten week!

I'm so happy it's Sunday because this past week was one of the worst ones I've had since 2006. Let's have a crazy week in review... 1) Sunday: Father's Day. Talk to Dad & learn that he's having some nonbloggable (but not health) issues. Ugh. 2) Monday: Calm, which is good because I needed it for Tuesday... 3) Tuesday: More layoffs at the Courier-Post. We lost 13 that day including my manager, whose position was eliminated. This means more work for all of us. I don't know how many times I can ...

Root, root root for the Phillies

I'm not a fan of inter-league baseball. Keep those wimpy non-batting American League pitchers where they belong, please, until the World Series. Anyway, there were only 3 days this year when the Philadelphia Phillies (currently .514 and my home team) played the Detroit Tigers (2006 AL Champions, 2006 World Series losers, and the Wandering Minstrel's home team). And, what luck...they played in Philly last weekend! So WM and I had a day at the ballpark last Saturday. It was a lovely day...not ...

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)

Advent week 2 - Peace

If you want peace, you don’t talk to your friends. You talk to your enemies. - Archbishop Desmond Tutu

Do not get lost in a sea of despair. Be hopeful, be optimistic. Our struggle is not the struggle of a day, a week, a month, or a year, it is the struggle of a lifetime. Never, ever be afraid to make some noise and get in good trouble, necessary trouble. - Representative John Lewis

You can still have a cozy day without having the “aesthetic.” Sometimes your cozy place has a dog crate in front of it. Sometimes the toilet bowl cleaner scent overpowers your candle. It’s still perfect. #cozy #reallife #genx
