Believe it or not, I am still cooking chicken every Sunday for the week. And although fitness levels wax and wane, I credit these preplanned lunches for keeping me at about the same weight I was last year when I stopped actively dieting. WM still has his chicken in sandwich form. I usually have mine with a side of steamed mixed vegetables or edamame. Last Sunday I decide to be even more Pinteresty (Pinterestrier?) and make the mason jar salads that were so popular a few years back. I used ...
Friday 5: Food Me Once; Food Me Twice
Hello, refreshed blog! Let's do a Friday 5! Remember those? I do! This week's topic is "Food Me Once; Food Me Twice." Speaking of which, I'm going back and cleaning up categories and tags. So far I have 55 posts with the "diet" tag. You'd think I'd be better at it by now. The top 10 tags so far are: Holidays, Vacation, Work, Disney, Humor, Diet, Christmas, Max, Divorce, NJ I still have 543 posts to go through and assign categories for. Hooray! 1. What do you like on your frozen ...
Easter Sunday
Happy Easter! This weekend zoomed by in a puff of flour. I spent yesterday baking Easter bread and ham pies with mom...and then gave them all away, like the magnanimous person I am. Or rather, the person who would eat them all if they were still here. Currently... Spending: Quality nephew time. He's yummy. Springing: The high temps have been scooting into the high 60s and low 70s lately. That with the clock change means I can sit in the yard after work. Losing! Yo! I'm now down 21 lbs! ...
February update
Hello, lovelies! I was going to quietly sunset this blog after the last post but UGH I miss it too much. So you're stuck with sporadic updates until I die or retire and can't afford hosting, I guess. Today is day 2 of a four-day weekend. I'm supposed to be at Walt Disney World right now, but in December we decided to postpone the trip until fall. So it's a staycation, if by staycation you mean scrubbing toilets and Magic Erasering streaks on the baseboards. Watching: WWE and New Japan Pro ...
Goodbye, January!
Today is day 15 of our "omg what is WRONG with us we need to turn this around NOW" life plan. I'm so stinking proud of us. The plan is as follows: Eat our own food. No takeout. (Wednesday dinner w/Mom is an exception, as are lunches that work buys for us, as long as I eat one serving and not three. And Fancy Coffee Friday, because that's just yogurt, granola, and black coffee.) We make a menu on Sundays and we stick with it. One cheat meal twice a month. Cheat day does not work for us, ...
Zumba class, week 1
I signed up for a Zumba class through my township's recreation program. I went to one class almost exactly five years ago (Something about September that makes me do silly things to stave off mortality, I guess) and PREDICTABLY* never went back. This time I paid for eight weeks upfront, so I'm pitting my increasing laziness against my increasing cheapness to see what will win out. I think I did okay, but I have to realize that me THINKING I can do any type of aerobic dance is the same as Joey ...
Wednesday Potpourri
The unthinkable happened: the Jeep is in the shop (finally getting air conditioning, woo) and the shuttle from the Dee-luxe apartment in the sky to the train station wasn't running. WM dropped me off at the train on his way to work, which meant I landed in Philadelphia pretty early. As I walked from the station to work with my new tote bag, sunglasses & snappy black blazer I was the epitome of City Girl in the City. I ruined that whole image by stopping to take photos. Like this one! It's ...
Drinking sticks and dirt.
Blech! Yick! Sticks! Dirt! So one of the ladies at work tells me her son's losing weight in droves because of this Enviga drink. So I picked up a can of the Green Tea flavor at the local 7-11 which is, sadly, not a Qwik-E-Mart. Enviga claims to be a natural metabolism booster and therefore negative calories to drink. It sounds like a good deal, but unfortunately it tastes like sticks. And dirt. I could only get through half a can. So yeah, another get-skinny-quick thing that I fell for, ...
Not the Biggest Loser
I have no idea how this happened (okay I do) but Charlie's now 30 lbs. Not too sure how to deal with this, as he, Misty, and Max share the same bowl of food.* He's not much of an exerciser, either. Obviously. He's 10 years old and in good health. They're already on cat "weight control" food, more for him than Misty. Misty's pudgy, but not overweight. Has anyone out there been successful with helping one cat lose weight in a multi-cat household? *Yes, Max eats cat food. He ignored the dog food ...
Webkeeping – April 2007
Every now and then I'll run site stats. The most fascinating part is the search referrer section. That's where I can see what people were searching for in Google/Yahoo when they found my site. I deliberately misspelled some of these in this list because I don't want to continue posting those words and fooling the search engines some more. Here is April's information: ladygypsy - (obvious) mary p0ppins - This refers to some musing of mine that I wanted to dress as her for Halloween a few ...
QPwC
I watched SuperSize Me last week, via Netflix. It was a great, great movie. I was completely horrified at the effects that McDonald's food had on Morgan Spurlock. (Who is very cute in an intellectual way.) But I have to say...although it was tearing up his body, Morgan kept saying that it tasted good. That, plus a disappointing weight-loss week DESPITE a on-program week...and, well...you can already tell what happened tonight. (Note the poignant, pleading Poochus in the background. Also ...
moment of un-zen
I'm very tired of members of The Greatest Generation not holding the elevator door while I dash frantically through the front doors of the building. I'm very tired of their dentured Cheshire grins while the elevator slams shut and my finger is only 2 feet away from the button. And I'm 7 lbs down, thanks to WeightWatchers Online and lots of Arizona Diet Green Tea. And the Pooch's daily walks. I still miss ephedra, though. ...
