Show us your books: September 2018

outdoors reading

I can’t believe it’s this day again. Show Us Your Books Day! And yes, it’s also 9/11. Seventeen years ago I was an adult and watched the horror on one of the TVs at the Courier-Post while it happened. (And…

Friday 5: The Whole Trial Is Out of Order!

Happy Friday 5 on a Saturday! This is a day late because … wait for it … I went out again last night. This time was happy hour with my mom and my aunt who is recently back from a…

The Lady at 46: Walking the Walk

Year 45!

Today is my 46th birthday. It’s weird to consider that I’m on the downward slope to 50 when I feel like I just got used to being in my 40s. I spent the day at the shore, possibly for the…

Friday 5: Just Wing It

Happy Sunday! To wind up “Operation Use a Bunch of my PTO this Summer” I don’t go back until work until Thursday. I actually went OUT Friday night. Out. Past 11. I went to Atlantic City with Mom and my…

Lunch prep: Pesto Chicken

Firstly, my all-clear letter arrived. Huzzah! The boobs survive another year! This summer I tried to be creative with the meals I made for my own lunches. In this last week before WM heads back to school and I start…

Murphy: Seatfiller trainee

When one of us gets up from our office chairs, this is what we find when we return. If there is ever an awards show that has dogs in the audience, I have the perfect seatfiller for them!

Post-squish

The entire mammogram, from paperwork to exit, took fifteen minutes. The imaging itself took seven. I took 2 extra strength Tylenol an hour before and had no pain, just discomfort. But nothing crippling — the technician and I talked the…

Currently, pre-squish edition

Sitting here: While I’ll be sad to see summer go, I’m pleased that I squeezed in so much outdoor time. Instead of dorking on the internet for a half hour in between each household task, I just do all of…

Friday 5: Lyrical gangsta

Happy Friday. I am tired, sick, sore, and grumpy. So let’s just cut to the chase. The Friday 5 theme is: Lyrical Gangsta. 1. What’s a stupid lyric from a song you like? Me: “Look for the purple banana ‘Til…

Pesto!

This semester, WM has his night classes on Mondays and Wednesdays, meaning I’m on my own for dinners. He’s not a fan of garlicky foods and garlic would my patronus, if a patronus could be a fragrant bulb. Meaning that…

Ollie: please fence me in

Ollie, a very well-behaved dog from day 1, never needed a crate. We just had to make sure he was away from the litterboxes when we had them. Murphy was a crate puppy because that’s what he was used to…

The fruits of a four day weekend

I’m super glad I went to the beach on Friday, because it was the best day of the four days I had off. On Saturday my credit card and I dressed up and met friends for tea at the Mary…

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)

Well, that happened.
