Friday 5: Dogs

Thursday’s post about World of Warcraft was auto-scheduled, and I’m glad because after YET ANOTHER school shooting on Wednesday, I wouldn’t have known what to write. Well, I know what has to be written, but that one’s going to take…

Doggo update

I’m calling them doggos today to sound more Internet-hip. Is it working? Ollie is doing great, and completely embracing his mellow years. Having a younger brother has brought the happiness back to him, and even though I know he’s annoyed…

TBT: Duke and Bandit

I found an instant photograph taken of Duke and Bandit, 2 dogs from 1978. You can tell it’s an old photo because of the bright red sofa, the insane flash, and the disinterested arm on the right that couldn’t be…

Murphy and Ollie update

The dogs are doing well. Murphy is almost 20 lbs, thanks to a safe, cozy house and all of rocks that he eats. Seriously, we fish rocks out of his mouth every day. He’s a chewer and a barker —…

Circle of Life

Here I am on “puppy leave” which is actually a bunch of my vacation days that I’ve been accruing year to year. Murphy isn’t ready for workday crating (aka bathroom confinement) just yet. He’s working through some GI issues. Hopefully…

Ollie update

Ollie has had a rough time of it. He keenly felt Max’s loss, and for a few months he was just … sad. Then he had 2 bad ear infections about 6 weeks apart. Ear infections are common with spaniels…

Evolution of feeding dogs.

2006: Yeah, I just dump out a bunch of cat food in this dish, and Max eats alongside them. It works out well for everyone. (time passes, acquires a puppy) You dogs will eat the dry food we buy you….

Goodbye, January!

Today is day 15 of our “omg what is WRONG with us we need to turn this around NOW” life plan. I’m so stinking proud of us. The plan is as follows: Eat our own food. No takeout. (Wednesday dinner…

Currently: Crossword puzzling

I loooooove crossword puzzles. I suuuuuuuck at crossword puzzles. A few months ago, I plunked down $40 ($40!) for the New York Times crossword app for my phone. It’s a lot of dough, but that $40 ($40?!) gives me the…

Alpha

Max is doing surprisingly well. I say this because just a week ago, we were having the “Quality of Life” discussion, as barely moved for three days and we were carrying him outside to do his business. This post was…

Brothers and very best friends

We’ve been having a lot of thunderstorms lately. During a particularly nasty one, the zoo was hunkered down on the sofa with me. And this happened. Yes, that’s Charlie and Ollie “holding paws” during the storm. If I could freeze…

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)

Well, that happened.
