Zoom Cooking Class!

Two weeks ago I broke out of my comfort zone and joined a Zoom cooking class. The teacher was Meredith Laurence, my favorite chef you’ve likely never heard of. She used to be a brand spokesperson on QVC but she’s…

Show Us Your Books November 2020

photo of a planner layout from the bookish life of nina hill

Someday, some intrepid scholar doing her PhD dissertation on blogs in the early 2000s will find my blog and others like it and be shocked. “With everything going on in 2020, people still chronicled the mundane details of life like…

What I’m Watching: A Simple Swedish Life

Since Schitt’$ Creek and The Good Place ended, I’m having a bit of a struggle getting into TV shows. Right now I crave light, warm, wholesome programming. If I’m going to cry, I need it to be because I’m choked…

Election Day 2020

It’s all come down to this day. I wrote and sent hundreds of postcards for downballot Democrats across the country. I donated money to political campaigns that I believed in. I texted with Victory 2020. The last wave of initial…

Halloween 2020

This year our town decided to go ahead with trick or treating, with caveats. They encouraged everyone to wear a mask, that trick or treating groups be limited to households, and that candy be given away at a decent distance….

October Extras 2020

Photos and thoughts from October that were a little thin for their own post. I ordered a letter board a few months back and although it is the pinnacle of late twenty-teens white lady decorating, I enjoy changing it at…

Our Office Annex

WM and I are both working from home, likely until the end of the world. We usually share the office. However, he teaches via Zoom all morning so if I have a morning meeting, I relocate to the upstairs “office…

What I’m listening to: Chillhop

the chillhop raccoon

This is a genre I had never heard of before the cursed year of 2020 when even the “Add Water” light on the coffeemaker is enough to kick me down an anxiety hole. Chillhop has been around for a few…

World of Warcraft: Lyotta is 40!

And she bought a sweet, skeletal ride! I’m enjoying my second tour through Classic WoW. It’s almost like living the “if you could go back in time knowing what you know now…what would you do differently?” trope. My first time…

Postcards to Voters

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)
