The beginning of the month means the Currently linkup with Anne In Residence. This month’s words are: consuming, exploring, getting, hoping, and seeing.
consuming Streamers on Twitch. Yes, I’ve become a person who watches other people play video games. I find it very relaxing. I can’t explain it otherwise. The best streamers are the ones who explain what’s going on without narrating every step. This weekend I’ll finally be consuming Ted Lasso. We do have AppleTV, but it’s in WM’s name and I don’t know his password and there is probably another way to deal with this but eh. Streaming media is great but I’m tired of logins and passwords to a half dozen different sites just to find certain exclusive programs. Or installing apps on a television. Back in my day apps were just called channels. Ooof. Old. So old.
exploring the country via VirtualVacation.us. From that website, you can click on City Guesser and then your preferred region, and you’ll be served a full-screen video taken by someone walking through a city/town in that region. Guess where you’re at by clicking the blue “Start Guessing” button at the bottom, and drop a pin on the map where you think you are. If you’re missing travel but are still not traveling, this is as good a substitute as any. GeoGuessr has the same concept, but requires you to create an account first and is more gamified.
getting excited about the continuous evolution of our backyard. I think HGTV and its ilk creates a narrative that you can build a haven in a weekend. In reality, it takes years. By the end of this month, I’ll have the patio fixed up the way I want it.
hoping that the weather is nice on Mother’s Day. If so, Mom and I are going to the shore for the day to walk the boardwalk for the first time since 2019! If we go I’m going to eat one of everything. One piece of pizza, one order of curly fries, one ice cream cone, one box of popcorn, one donut…you get the point. If I’m beaching, I go to Margate. If I’m hitting the boardwalk, it’s Ocean City. I do miss Wildwood though.
seeing my calendar start to fill up for summer. And by fill up, I mean a couple of events which is far more than the zero things I had planned next summer. The professional association that I volunteer for (as opposed to the one I work for) is having a networking event at an outdoor bar in June and I’m positively twitterpated.

When watching DIY shows the renovations often look so quick and easy but reality is a different story! Also currently working on our garden and it is a work in progress. You must be so excited for your patio – enjoy! Perfect timing for summer.

Hope you enjoy Ted Lasso as much as I did – it really put a smile on my face. And that sounds like a pretty ideal Mother’s Day plan. Hope the weather turns out!

I am really loving it!

I agree – the TV shows make designing and curating a space look so easy when in reality it takes forever. I’m glad you feel your patio is set. It inspires me to keep going on my patio, and my bedroom and my kitchen….

And my extra bedroom, and expanding the driveway…

That virtual vacation sounds awesome!! I will look it up. And you are so right about HGTV – I always think things will take a weekend and it is so much longer. 🙂

HGTV also fooled me into thinking that taking out drywall was easy!
