In the news today: Gannett lays off journalists across the country. Here is your yearly reminder that Gannett also lays off employees who don’t work in the newsroom ... they are just rarely included in the sad pieces because they don’t get to write them. IT, customer service, circulation, operations, advertising, production, design, marketing, sales, finance... these are all people who contribute toward getting those papers on your doorstep/news on your digital display of choice. Things I miss about the C-P
TNP is awesome, so far. In every way. But I do miss some things about the place I toiled at for 12 years. Like: The way the office smelled every morning: newspapers and fresh brewed coffee. How can a workday be bad if it starts out smelling like a Sunday morning? (workday suck often triumphed over the pleasant aroma) My plucky family of coworkers. Proximity to shopping. There are no stores in lunchtime-walking-distance to TNP. The patch of grass in the parking lot where I used to pitch my ...
Close enough to smell death!
Our Spring trip will be to .. ("Walt Disney World," mumbles the familiar crowd.) No! Las Vegas! Bwah! Fooled you! We figured it was time for something different. What's better...we've booked tickets to see Penn & Teller perform at the Rio. (There goes Kim with her "suit and tie" fetish again.) The seats we booked are in Section 2, Row A, seats 7 and 8. But for now...* dude...i just witnessed the pres of cbs digital and a vp of yahoo chat about news aggregation!* during the break...someone stole my chair...which I had raised as high as it can go...and replaced it with a chair that can't be raised at all. Cross-Platform Media Teams – The Media Center @ API
Business trip #3 and FINAL for June...
