We bought a house!

Reason # 1298437 why my blog will never make money -- when Big Life Events happen, I stop writing. I can't help it. I'm always afraid I'm going to jinx things. Short story: We finally found a house, bought it, and moved in last Saturday! Longer story: I never thought we'd find a house we'd both agree on. Seriously. We put in an offer on a house that we knew we'd lose just so we could put out into the Universe that we were ready to buy. That we came to play. (warning: Youtube video) But back ...

As you can probably tell, I lazed about in bed too long today and didn't have a chance to blog. After a brutally chilly week, spring has arrived! It was in the 60s today, and I ate lunch (my subway sandwich) outside at the picnic tables at work. (Which is why I didn't blog at lunch, either.) I just couldn't bear staying in longer than I had to.I talked to our Buyers' Agent today. We have a final walkthrough of the house on 5/14 at 9:00am, and the settlement itself is at 10:30am. I'm taking ...

Another sleepless Sunday night. I'm comforted by the fact that I slept VERY MUCH these last 3 days. But you know how I worry on Sunday nights. And now that I was sick on Friday and have to take off on Thursday, I'm doubly nervous. Yesterday I did end up missing both Les Mis and Nicole's 4th birthday party because I was still feeling achy. Today I got out to Target for a little bit (took every fiber of my being NOT to buy the Snagglepuss T-shirt) and it felt good. It feels like Spring has ...

After I was spoken to about mentioning work in my blog.

Most ladies would be hopping excited at the prospect of buying a home. Me? I'm nauseous with worry. It's a lot of money to shell out. Tonight we had in our possession a cashier's check for a huge chunk of cash. And then...we turned it over. "There goes a few Disney vacations!" said Thor. We're doing it well within our means though. Hypothetically, let's say Thor and I were preapproved for a $5.00 mortgage. We're buying a house for less than $2.50. that's how we've matured. Not long ago, we would ...

Yeah Baby!!

Yeah Baby!!See Kim. See Kim's new, kicky, smoulderingly-corporate-yet-still-fun-despite-my-obsession-with-greenbar-reports hairdo. See Kim holding brand new mortgage preapproval letter. See Kim, future homeowner. We're going to look at a house on Monday night.See Kim's rising star award. Yes, the one I bitched mercilessly about NOT getting last year. (blush)A very busy but productive two days.Oh God...I stole Martha Stewart's hair! It's a Good Thing. (tm) ...

Spa night and starting the house-buying episode

Tonight was a self-designated spa night. I had some retail therapy today which took me to Bath and Body. I bought the gel lined socks and a pumpkin purifying face mask. The mask smells and looks like real pumpkin slop. I put it on for 10 minutes, then washed it off. My face felt goopy at first, but now it's very smooth. After my shower I put the gel socks on. They have a squishy lining inside. I'll wear them all night and hopefully tomorrow my feet will be baby-smooth. They really go through a ...

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)
