Friday 5: We learned more from a three-minute record, baby

friday october 15

Happy Friday, friends! I had a very good adulting week, including having an electrician in to upgrade some old outlets. That will likely be the beginning of a very beautiful and expensive friendship, because if there is any one thing in this house that needs work and probably an overhaul, it's the wiring. I also received some fabric swatches to help us purchase a sofa to replace our beloved (yet very worn and saggy) red sofa. I'm writing this while watching the NJ Devils home opener. It's ...

Are you ready for some hockey?

Well, Thor and I went to the Devils/Flyers game at the Wachovia Center in Philly. The Devils lost the game, and therefore the series. We were two of about 10 Devils fans there. I'm just happy we didn't get beaten up or doused with beer. Typical Philadelpha fans: When the game was tied 1-1, they were dead quiet. When the Flyers scored and pulled ahead, they screamed like there was no tomorrow. Thor was on my left side, and I really lucked out, because on my right was a guy who had no problems ...

Open letter, last in a 3-part series

Dear Thor,Well, if you've been reading, you'll know how sucky yesterday was. You called in the midst of it, and made me smile, and I truly appreciate that. So we'll not talk about work.Except for the heaps of abuse that I got for wearing your Devils jersey. Nicer than that was the handful of closet Devil fans who commended me for bravery. Bravery. Imagine that. Heaven forbid you don't follow the crowd.MomandI ate at the Olive Garden last night. We had a nice time. Then I played Asheron's Call ...

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)
