Outwit, Outplay, Outlast

broken apple watch

I’m not a competitive person when it comes to physical activity. I’ve always been clumsy and short of breath – team sports other than bowling were never my jam. Think like a queen. A queen is not afraid to fail….

Sunshine, Sadness, and Social Distancing

2020 continues to be a gigantic mirror maze. When we’re finally comfortable enough to move forward a few steps we run right into a pane of glass. New Jersey is slowly ‘opening back up’ because our transmission rate has fallen…

Fit Journal — March 2019

I’m taking an online class to help me be accountable w/r/t fitness: physical and emotional. This is my (tardy) monthly journal entry. What are some of your expectations that do not match up with reality?  I expect myself to be…

Resolutions update: January

salad

We are twenty-two days into January. Most (of my) resolutions die by now, so here’s an update on Where have I been? What do I want? Beauty: My nails are growing, but I had to trim them down (!) because…

Currently, pre-squish edition

Sitting here: While I’ll be sad to see summer go, I’m pleased that I squeezed in so much outdoor time. Instead of dorking on the internet for a half hour in between each household task, I just do all of…

Friday 5: The Road to H. E. Double Hockeysticks

Happy Saturday! I had this lined up to do last night, but a few weeks ago I saw 3 NYT Crossword puzzle books that weren’t even touched so I’m forcing myself to do a page a day so I can…

You can’t handle the (missing) tooth!

Here’s something good that happened in the last few weeks… Back in September of 2015 I bit into a cheesesteak spring roll (I love Philadelphia) at a lunch meeting with my manager and my tooth broke. Back in September 2015,…

Our Bodies, Ourselves: Middle-aged lady edition

Two years ago, I went to a fertility doctor (diagnosis: unexplained infertility well DUH!) and that was the beginning of a long series of appointments and tests. As those appointments began to wind down, I broke my tooth. Which also…

Take a sad song and make it better

The leg’s much better. I kept off of it as much as I could this weekend, skipping the bead show and the craft show and only going out for breakfast on Sunday morning. I’ll stick with the knee brace for…

Back to the gym

I’ve been a bit mum about it, but I’m hitting the gym 3x a week again. Mom and I have been going and doing 30 minutes on the treadmill each time. Plus my stomach crunches and assisted chin ups. I…

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)

Well, that happened.
