Show Us Your Books SPRING/SUMMER 2020

book, suntan lotion, beach hat, on an outdoor table

You see what I did there with the title? Friends, I’m having a reading problem. It’s really really hard for me to read right now. Even the fun, summer, beachy books that I love are a slog, because every time…

Sunshine, Sadness, and Social Distancing

2020 continues to be a gigantic mirror maze. When we’re finally comfortable enough to move forward a few steps we run right into a pane of glass. New Jersey is slowly ‘opening back up’ because our transmission rate has fallen…

The One with the Unfriending

We’ve known each other for a long time but we’re from an era where when you lost touch, you truly lost touch. Because of that I was initially delighted to get back in touch via social media. And for years…

Black Lives Matter

I can’t write anything about the state of racial affairs in the USA right now that hasn’t been written better by many other people. I’m not a paragon of enlightenment or a scholar on civil rights history. I’ve moved through…

Sourdough Bread!

I have always loved sourdough bread. And while I’m a decent baker, making my own sourdough was never within reach. Sourdough differs from regular bread because it doesn’t use conventional yeast. Instead, you grow your own yeast within your own…

My curse

The first half of my life I never put anything away and was plagued by wasting time trying to find things in every single room. Here in the back nine of my life, I put things away, but because I…

A (Work)Day in the Life

laptop and pile of laundry

I used to work from home one day a week — usually Mondays. As of March 16th all of us at TNP are working from home until June 1st at the earliest. Here is a typical work-from-home day… 7:30 –…

Angry Man Farm 2020

kim and murphy

(celebrating one year of success!) In the middle of all of the abnormality and fear, the days grew longer and springtime returned. It seemed weird planning for a future in a world that seemed so dire, but I’m not going…

Will it ever feel right again?

The outside world, that is. States are (foolishly, imo) opening up again. Not NJ because we’re still throbbing with illness and death, with our long term care/nursing homes being hit hardest. For months now I’ve been watching the cases creep…

Entertainment in the time of … ugh whatever

When you’re living in a time where all sporting events, concerts, and performances have been cancelled, and bars, restaurants, movie theaters and stores have closed how do you pass the time? Videoconferencing for fun What would we do without the…

Easter: Though Hope is Frail, it’s Hard to Kill

Easter 2020 looks much different than usual. And I’m not even an Easter Person, being both unchurched and too lazy to find another one right now. Although, what better time? And as someone who was raised in a religious tradition…

Baking in the time of..

Yeah, I’m tired of the coronavirus references too. But they’re so easy! With no place to go on the weekends (and really no desire to ever leave my house again) I’ve taken to baking. To try and keep things under…

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)

Well, that happened.
