What I’m Listening To: A Legendary Christmas

This gem was released in 2018 and it’s one of my favorites. I bet it sounds amazing on vinyl, but I just have Alexa play it. My favorite songs are “Bring me Love” and “What Christmas Means to Me.” Oh,…

What I’m listening to: Holly Dolly Christmas

It’s a fun Christmas Album by country and vaccine queen Dolly Parton! Here’s the entire album! The whole album is fantastic. My favorites are “Cuddle Up, Cozy Down Christmas” which is a duet with Michael Buble, and “Christmas on the…

Thanksgiving & Black Friday 2020

It was kind of a fraught Thanksgiving in the USA this year, with government officials pleading with people to not travel (people traveled) and keep it small (many did, some didn’t) and not to mix households (difficult). It was especially…

November Extras 2020

Photos and thoughts from November that were a little thin for their own post. So the election was fun, wasn’t it? Biden/Harris have it sewn up unless Trump&Co can manage to win a few lawsuits. The Trump law team is…

A Crisis of Faith

This post is about my faith, so if you’re of the “zombie Jesus” or “invisible Sky God” persuasion and it’s working for you, I’m happy for you. Please afford me a little grace to write about this on my own…

What I’m Listening To: A Pirate Looks at Forty

In 2008, Jack Johnson, Dave Matthews, and Tim Reynolds performed Jimmy Buffett’s legendary song. If you know me and my musical tastes, this is perfect.

About the election…

meme of trump yelling at the count from sesame street

The race wasn’t called for Biden/Harris for four harrowing days post-election. The Biden/Harris team won the popular vote and the electoral vote; however, Trump and his minions are filing lawsuits in various states trying to cast doubts on the legitimacy…

Zoom Cooking Class!

Two weeks ago I broke out of my comfort zone and joined a Zoom cooking class. The teacher was Meredith Laurence, my favorite chef you’ve likely never heard of. She used to be a brand spokesperson on QVC but she’s…

photo of a planner layout from the bookish life of nina hill

Someday, some intrepid scholar doing her PhD dissertation on blogs in the early 2000s will find my blog and others like it and be shocked. “With everything going on in 2020, people still chronicled the mundane details of life like…

What I’m Watching: A Simple Swedish Life

Since Schitt’$ Creek and The Good Place ended, I’m having a bit of a struggle getting into TV shows. Right now I crave light, warm, wholesome programming. If I’m going to cry, I need it to be because I’m choked…

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)
