Slowly but surely, my WoW Classic characters are making progress! Lyotta hit level 60, the highest level you can achieve in the game. She is currently spending time making gold so that she can buy the fastest horse in the game. How? By scanning the auction house for what's selling (currently Firebloom, Plaguebloom and Firefin Snappers), obtaining those items and selling them. It's a bit boring at the moment, but a faster horse will let me make more money on her to buy more gear to get her ...
Warcraft Escapism
Since it's the only "travel" I'll be doing in the near future, I may as well enjoy the scenery. As of this morning Leota Lyotta is 26, Kevashandia is 21, and I have a level 6 shaman named Vanderhoof. Lyotta's a solo creature like her creator. Keva has successfully healed Wailing Caverns twice so far. And Vanderhoof? Eh. He's pretty squishy and not fun to play. When I fly from town to town, I am reminded of better days. Hopefully there will be better days ahead. ...
Off the Wagon
Many of you know that I played World of Warcraft (WoW) for MANY years. I left the game for good* about 4 years ago because houses are WORK and keeping a WoW character current is also WORK. World of Warcraft Classic Edition came out a year ago August 26th. It's the very first version of WoW, before expansions. Back when it was even HARDER than it is currently. I resisted it. I resisted it for 50 weeks. But I started playing Diablo again during that time and Diablo is also a Blizzard ...
End of an era
I finally did it. I cancelled my World of Warcraft account. It's been months since I logged in and when I totaled the money I spent on entertainment that I didn't experience, I decided to pull the plug. For now. Or maybe forever. And while I'll miss this bad-ass demon slayer and Healer of Noobs... ... I had amazing times in that game and took away from it more real-life benefits than you could ever imagine. Al diel shala. I'm looking for a more casual game I can play on my ...
Lok’tar Dog-ar!
A short while ago we purchased the fleecy Horde throw from Blizzard's Spring Clearance sale. It was originally $70 (!) but I think we ended up paying less than $20 for it. It's very fluffy and I said that we should save this for Murphy. This was before we had even started looking for him. When he arrived, I tossed the blanket on the floor in the office and he took to it like a ... dog to a soft blanket. He prefers the fleecy side to the microfiber side. Earlier this week while I was working ...
So I'm playing World of Warcraft again
Oh my goodness I hate hate hate that I'm writing this but OMG I'M PLAYING WORLD OF WARCRAFT AGAIN!!! I haven't played in MONTHS. In fact, I stopped playing after this post And sure, I could have scrubbed that post, but this blog is the best tool for showing how a human bean can change her mind ALL OF THE TIME. The new expansion, Warlord of Draenor, came out in November. And I resisted. In December, I would stare at the battle.net login screen and then close it out. In January, I logged into ...
WoW Wanderings: My perfect Garrosh cutscene
I've been playing World of Warcraft since early 2005. For the last 5 years my main has been a Blood Elf paladin, but I also have an Undead Mage and a Goblin Shaman. For a few years I kept a separate blog about it called WoW Wanderings because I didn't want to bother you regular LGN readers with that nonsense. Well, screw it. This is part of who I am, along with the Disney and the beading and the marriage(s) and dogs and cat and fifteen different hair colors. So until I decide whether or not ...
The story of OllieBear
This is my dog, Ollie. He is the younger of my two dogs. He's one of the best dogs you could ever ask for, but he's not very bright. That's okay. He's perfect the way he is. When Ollie gets really hairy, he reminds me of a teddy bear. That's when I know it's time to get OllieBear groomed. Back in 2008, Blizzard gave everyone who was playing World of Warcraft a baby polar bear in-game pet to commemorate WoW's 4th anniversary. The bear is completely adorable, but will occasionally just sit ...
See ya later, Azeroth
As of today, I am no longer a World of Warcraft player. (pauses for the appropriate gasp) This'll mark the first day since 2/14/2001 that I don't subscribe to one (or more) Massive multiplayer online role-playing game. I suppose part of it is due to The Cheapening ... (thought process jarred as we come across a program on "Gay Bingo" on PBS. I want to play Gay Bingo! There are drag queens and no smoking and they call the numbers relatively quickly!) ...but most of it came from ...
A tour of Calliope
Calliope is my iPod...I got her for Christmas. Calliope comes to work with me every day and helps me to stay focused on my tasks as opposed to having my brain waves interrupted by the cacophony around me. Seriously, there 3 cellphones at work with the "Sex and the City" theme ringtone that ring All. Day. Long. I've been listening to a weirdly wide variety of podcasts lately. Like... Downloadable Content, the Penny Arcade Podcast -- Once a week the minds behind my favorite webcomic, Penny ...
