What I’m listening to: Tapestry

graphic that says no photos, just words

As the days become shorter I find myself listening to music that can be described as the soundtrack of my childhood. It’s warm and comforting. This week I listened to Carole King’s Tapestry album. I’ve heard many of the songs…

This beat cha-ching like money

It should come as no surprise to ANYBODY who has known me for even the slightest bit that I love me some boy bands. Always have, always will. If you haven’t heard of BTS before, they are a K-Pop band…

My Biggest “Loser” Moment

What better way to knock off the writing rust than to write about the evening when I felt like the biggest loser on the planet? Oh, not Biggest Loser as in weight loss, Biggest Loser as in waves of shame….

Middle-aged life goals

This is Paula Abdul. She is 56 years old. It’s the 30th anniversary of her breakthrough album Forever Your Girl and … wow. And no she’s not actually singing but that’s a-okay. h/t Design Mom

Old Lady Russell is confused

Dave Matthews BandNow called Dad Rock released their new album last month! Hooray! And I like it! Hooray! I previewed it extensively by streaming it through Amazon Music and said, “Hey, Kim. BUY THAT ALBUM.” The iTunes store has the…

Friday 5: Rockit

Happy Saturday! I was going to write this last night but we watched the Olympics Opening Ceremonies instead. It was amazing and the five little kids who carried the artistic storyline were adorable! This weekend I have nothing planned but…

Mariah can still sing

Putting aside the butterflies, Glitter and #dembabies weirdness, Mariah Carey still has a good set of pipes on her. She missed a note or two, and the range has changed a bit, but it’s nice to hear her unprocessed. (and…

The Muppets and CeeLo Green: All I Need is Love

You might not think you’ll like this…but this video is just awesome. It’s obvious (to me, anyway) that the Muppets are in the hands of people who grew up with the Muppets and care about them. And no, not Disney…

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)

Well, that happened.
