I DO NOT NEED A BIOPSY! WOOOOO! I had my follow-up mammogram this morning and the new views revealed that the new spots are microcysts and calcifications similar to the ones biopsied in 2019. This is part and parcel of how breast tissue changes as you age. I am thankful to my own breast for not trying to murder me and exhausted. I regret forgetting the Tylenol 1 hour before because those were some high-pressure images! My next medical adventure will be my first colonoscopy. I did ...
Friday 5: Now I lay me down
Hello and happy Friday and happy penguin awareness day. I'm off today, therefore we have a very on-time blog post. Had my mammogram on Tuesday and ... yeah ... I'm going to need a follow-up mammogram and ultrasound. Huzzah. We'll see where this goes. It's not my first rodeo. It's my third, and third rodeos are just pissy inconveniences. But we have good news for Murphy! He had another blood test yesterday and his red blood cell count is still where it should be. The vet is dropping his ...
So about that mammogram…
Welp, I had my mammogram and ultrasound on Tuesday and I heard nothing on Wednesday and thought I was fine. And I heard nothing on Thursday and thought I was fine. I checked the patient portal first thing Friday morning and nothing was uploaded and I thought I was fine. And then I received the phone call at 11am Friday that things were not fine. I need three areas (which are hopefully benign cysts) in my left breast biopsied. I had a biopsy of my right breast done in October 2019 and it was ...
Post-squish
The entire mammogram, from paperwork to exit, took fifteen minutes. The imaging itself took seven. I took 2 extra strength Tylenol an hour before and had no pain, just discomfort. But nothing crippling -- the technician and I talked the entire time. ...
Currently, pre-squish edition
Sitting here: While I'll be sad to see summer go, I'm pleased that I squeezed in so much outdoor time. Instead of dorking on the internet for a half hour in between each household task, I just do all of the crap at once so I can spend a chunk of that time outside. I've done most of my blog planning here, too. My pepper plants, planted too late, are finally bearing fruit! Er - veg! Planning on planting some lettuce, garlic and beets this fall. Why not try? I may get to be the COO of ...
Our Bodies, Ourselves: Middle-aged lady edition
Two years ago, I went to a fertility doctor (diagnosis: unexplained infertility well DUH!) and that was the beginning of a long series of appointments and tests. As those appointments began to wind down, I broke my tooth. Which also started its own long, long, LONG chain of dentist and oral surgeon appointments and surgeries. (That's almost done, btw...hoping to have a tooth back in my mouth by the end of June) And because I had all of these tests and appointments, I let the usual routine ...
First mammogram at 40 – what to expect
I had my first mammogram yesterday and I wanted to jot a few things down as to what happened and what someone else should expect on their first. I do this from time to time because it's nice to be able to Google a question like "What to expect at my first mammogram" and not get an answer that was written by a 20-year-old male intern at a PR firm that was hired by a cancer center. I was told not to wear deodorant or put powder or lotion on the girls that morning. Fair enough, it *was* a day off ...
