I mean, Julie & Julia was a thing, right?

One of the books I read in January was Eleanor Roosevelt’s 1933 book “It’s Up to the Women” which was meant to rally the spirits of women during the Depression. One of the chapters featured a healthy yet frugal weekly…

Kimberussell.com reader questions

Sometimes your thoughtful blog comments get flagged as spam. I feel badly about that, so from time to time I take a few out and answer them personally. Here are three comments that really stood out. The first is from…

The one where Kim tries La Croix

After about 2 years of watching every other white woman rave about La Croix, I finally decided to take the leap. The excitement washed over me as I stood in the beverages aisle at Target, contemplating which of the dozens…

Merry Christmas from the Dee-luxe Apartment in the Sky!

This was taped to the door of the mailroom downstairs. (language, bad spelling) Mind you, I had a fall wreath stolen off of our door last year. While we did patrol the building looking for it, wishing cancer on someone…

What do Ariana Grande and I have in common?

(Besides our killer bods and dumptrucks full of cash) I don’t know much about Ariana Grande other than she covered Wham!’s Last Christmas* on the Michael Buble special and I think she did okay with it. But this image came…

A glass of Merlot, a soft quilt, and some stimulating words

It’s time for my most arousing and stimulating read of the year. I’m saving it for a night when WM comes home late…

Macabre musings

Macabre musing #1: This is the bag that Charlie’s remains came in. Doesn’t it look like it came from some swanky little artsy boutique? I’m tempted to carry my lunch to work in it and see if anyone notices. Macabre…

WTFacebook?

I clicked “like” on the Facebook page for author Cheryl Strayed. She wrote the books “Wild” and “Tiny Beautiful Things” and was Dear Sugar on the Rumpus. In response, Facebook helpfully offered these other pages for me to “like.” In…

Why I am not a makeup blogger

I’ve been a blissfully happy Birchbox member for over a year now. I enjoy the samples and it’s just fun to get a $10 box of surprises each month. So far I’ve discovered two new fragrances, a BB cream that…

A tip to keep your sheet sets organized!

A few years ago, Martha Stewart suggested folding your sheets and storing them in one of the pillowcases. Like such: I’m TOTALLY on it.

What in the ever-loving crap?

Like many, I have a LinkedIn account. I logged in tonight because I haven’t updated it since I started at TNP and I thought I should put something more on there than “I’m an online advertising diva!” Because I thankfully…

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)

Well, that happened.
