A practically perfect Halloween costume

For my entire adult life I wanted to be Mary Poppins for Halloween. In 2005, I mentioned it on this blog and variations on “Mary Poppins costume” dominated my incoming search results for months and months. Which was sad for…

Sweetest Day 2014

Yesterday was Sweetest Day, a relatively obscure holiday that was created by big business to celebrate love. WM and I are all about love, even when the holiday is shady. So when we remember*, its a lot of fun. This…

Throwback Thursday: "Little" Red Riding Hood

October, 2001. “Little” Red Riding hood — completely handmade by me except the blouse & tights. The shoes were from a wedding that I was in. And I had to lengthen the skirt six inches from the pattern. I’m a…

Throwback Thursday: Christmas Eve 1983

I love the Throwback Thursday Instagram hashtag (#tbt). It’s an inspiration for me to scan the big box of old photos that I’ve had forever. I wish there were more people my age and older doing it though, because seeing…

In Flanders Fields

In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago We…

Here comes 2013!

We went to a late lunch today (It was around 4 pm, which put us in with the over-80 dinner crowd. And I am NOT kidding about that.) and we both agreed that 2012 was amazing. It’s the first year…

About the holiday header

That’s actually a scan of the Christmas card we sent out a few years ago. We used VistaPrint’s* little cartoon creator and I loved how it turned out. So all I had to do was scan it in, add my…

Happy Easter!

The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he…

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)

Well, that happened.
