Max’s Homecoming Day!

December 12, 2003, morning

Early blog, right? That’s because I’m still at home.

Here’s what transpired:

  • I had a meetin’ about the “Future of Online” scheduled for 1pm today with a couple of bigwigs. Dandy.
  • Then it was switched to 3pm and I was asked if I could switch my schedule a bit to accommodate. Saying “NO” would be like telling Bush, Cheney, Rumsfield, and Rice, “Nope” so I said, SURE! Emailed Clark and asked him to do the site solo this morning and I’d work 8:30 to 5.
  • THEN, as I’m leaving, I was told that the meeting was cancelled altogether and will be rescheduled for next Tuesday or Friday.
  • So rather than switch back, I decide to sleep in and still go in for 8:30. Or maybe a bit earlier if I get restless here.

And, as predicted yesterday, the top story on CourierPostOnline.com is the flooding. πŸ˜‰

Mood: Well-slept and still early for work. I may even see David this morning!
Work docket: Hmmmmmm…not at work yet, but I’ll venture I’ll be doing Hot Properties, some promo work for Varsity All-stars and Women on the Run
Lunch: Probably lunch with Erin, who got a job!!! She starts Monday and will be working less than a mile from me, so we’ll be able to meet for lunch often!
Evening: I forgot to buy oatmeal yesterday at Genuardi’s. I also need oven cleaner. And maybe we’ll have a late-night CookieCam session to make up for the big crash and burn (literally) that was yesterday.
Weekend: I was a bad girl and bought a new online game — Horizons. My Asheron’s Call Guild seems to be jumping to this one, so I’ll bite. I’ll play that this weekend, plus bake, decorate for Christmas, and if I’m not dead, watch a Wrestling PPV at Mom’s Sunday night.

    And now…the Friday Five!

    1. Do you enjoy the cold weather and snow for the holidays?
I hate cold weather. It snowed last week, but the temperatures were fairly warm (for snow) so that was pretty nice. But I don’t like bitter biting cold winds. Not even for Christmas.

    2. What is your ideal holiday celebration? How, where, with whom would you celebrate to make things perfect?

My ideal CHRISTMAS celebration (I celebrate Christmas so for me it’s “Christmas Celebration” — No PC police on this blog, thanks) is time with family, glowing lights, and lots of food. And perfect presents to give. I find so much satisfaction in hunting down the “RIGHT” gift for people. πŸ™‚

    3. Do you do have any holiday traditions?
I’m mostly Italian, so on Christmas Eve we eat the Seven Fishes, a big buffet-style dinner. It’s supposed to be meat-free, but since none of us married cousins married Italian guys, there’s always meat. We do a gift exchange among the adults, which is nice too.

Can we count CookieCam as a holiday tradition? I bake Christmas Cookies in front of 2 webcams, which refresh every 30 seconds. See CookieCam for more info!

    4. Do you do anything to help the needy?
Salvation Army donations, Toys for Tots, Animal Orphanage donation.

    5. What one gift would you like for yourself?
More self-confidence. What? The question didn’t say it had to be a gift that had to be purchased!.

  • November 7, 2003 – morning

    Wt: 145.2 Wha??????
Mood: (still in shock from weight)
Work docket: Hot Properties and various sundry things. Damon’s out today and Monday.
Lunch: Lunch with Erin at Cherry Hill mall, wherein I shall eat a Subway veggie sub, WOW chips and a diet Pepsi.
Afternoon: Take Max for rousing walk.
Evening: To the GYM! I mean it…I will NOT NOT NOT NOT get back to 150.
    Weekend: I am planless.

    And now the Friday Five!

    1. What food do you like that most people hate?
Not sure if people hate it, but I enjoy eating raw potatoes.

    2. What food do you hate that most people love?
Sushi. It’s RAW! You can wrap it as tightly as you can with rice and stuff, but in the middle there’s nothing but squish. Ew.

    3. What famous person, whom many people may find attractive, is most unappealing to you?
I know this is maligning the dead, but I found nothing appealing about John F. Kennedy Jr. Junior always had that “I’m too good for you” swagger to him, even though he was constantly portrayed as just a regular guy.

    4. What famous person, whom many people may find unappealing, do you find
    attractive?

Tough question. I do know that, of late, my taste has shifted from ‘boys’ to ‘men.’ I’ve always found David Letterman appealing. So I’ll let that be my answer. (Note to David Letterman: Thank you for naming your kid after your dad and nothing weird like “Plush” or “Cubicle” or “Montana.”)

    5. What popular trend baffles you?
Young girls wearing pajama pants and slippers out. “Yeah, like the world is sooooo lame that it’s not even worth changing out of my pjs to go to the mall. Mommy, I need a ride. NOW.”

    Max’s Homecoming Day!

After work, BvP and I will zip to Target to purchase bowls, food, and the required squeak-toy for our new addition. Then we zip to the Animal Orphanage to bring our Maxie….to the vet. Naturally, I’ll want him checked out before he enters the kingdom of the cats. Maybe the vet will have a better idea of how old Max is. Some playtime outside afterward maybe…THEN a bath if he still has shelter-stink. I’m jittery. Hope it goes well.

Last night, as Charlie contentedly spread out in the middle of the carpet for his early-evening nap, I felt a wave of guilt. The cats are totally going to HATE life (and me) once Max shows up. They’ll cope (as they’ve all learned to cope with the additions and losses of each other, I suppose) but for a while, they won’t be happy.

The non-bloggable worries from yesterday have subsided, leaving the original non-blog-able worries to be worried about. Get that? πŸ™‚

Wt: 143 pounds?? (repeated head-smashing against desk) That puts me 10 pounds away from revised goal. Blech. Makes me want cupcakes
Mood: Apprehensive about Max’s transition to our apartment.
Work docket: Damon out today. Did the bar section update, tweaked the center package on the homepage to showcase the blackout stories. (From which we were spared down here in Southern NJ…amazing what a difference 10 exits on the turnpike make). Hot Properties, and grab more photos for Community Guide.
Lunch: Thoroughly disgusted with diet lunches. Didn’t bring any.
Afternoon/Evening: I was going to go to Jenna’s birthday party tonight, but will be tied up with all things Max. I’ll send the gift over there with Mom.
Weekend: More Max-mania. The family’s going to see Mom-Mom’s grave on Sunday, and then visit her house one more time before it’s sold later this week. I don’t think I can go there. I have warm memories of her house. Don’t want to see it empty.

    And now…the FRIDAY FIVE!!!

    1. How much time do you spend online each day?
Around 10 hours. Keep in mind I work online all day, so that sucks up 8 hours right there.

    2. What is your browser homepage set to?
    Work: www.courierpostonline.com
    Home: www.msn.com

    3. Do you use any instant messaging programs? If so, which one(s)?
I use AOLIM at work to keep in touch with Clark, who works from home. Other than that, I don’t use IM programs.

    4. Where was your first webpage located?
Ah…it was 1994, and it was pages.prodigy.net/users/kyfx39a or something wonderfully user-friendly like that. πŸ™‚ It was gray with Times New Roman font, some H1 thru H4 tags. Then I moved it to www.net-gate.com/~ladygypsy. Then members.home.com/ladygypsy. Then members.comcast.net/ladygypsy. Now I’m finally at www.kimberussell.com, hosted by Lunarpages. (whew!)

    5. How long have you had your current website?
The current incarnation of www.kimberussell.com marked it’s one year anniversary in the beginning of July, and has had one redesign during that time period.
