Cookie roundup 2012

And cookie season is over! Phew! I made six different types of cookies this year. The first kind was 10 dozen candy cane kiss cookies (detailed here). Six dozen of those went to a cookie swap, and the remaining 4 dozen were brought to workplaces and devoured at home long before Santa began to pack his sleigh. This is the tray I brought to Christmas dinner. Clockwise from top: Brown Sugar Cookies, Glazed Lemon Cookies, Sugar Cookie Cutouts (I used a franken-recipe this year), Snickerdoodles ...

CodeMonkey Likes You!

Song/lyrics by Jonathan Coulton. Graphics are from World of Warcraft, which tickles my big warm fuzzy secret heart! ** CodeMonkey came to me via one of my favorite CodeMonkeys former coworker Damon. He developed YouTube Shuffle. Enter some keywords and the app will stream relevant YouTube videos one after the other. Sweet! He reached the front page of Digg today. So proud! ** CookieCam starts at 7:30pm EST tomorrow. I'll probably start with snickerdoodles and making some other dough ...

The C-word

Cookiecam. It'll happen this year, but probably a bit scaled-back. I'll post up a "program guide" of when it'll be up. I know all I need to do is start, and I'll get into it. But my gosh this year is so different. When I get home from work, or on the weekends, I just want to wrap myself up on the sofa in front of the TV or the laptop and take care of me. The Christmas season is difficult in strange ways. No decent workspace in the kitchen. No guy to eat up all the peanut butter cookies as I ...

late night

Dreading work again. I took Friday off...my last vacation day before the holidays. So now I have three days of eek-mail to get back to** plus all sorts of projects in the works, procrastinated jobs to deal with and hurdles to clear. Tomorrow, I'm arriving at 8:15 so I can leave exactly at 5. BvP's home this week, and I miss the guy. I look forward to falling asleep with him on the sofa. Oh, and here is the CookieCam site for 2005. After trying to wrangle it into WordPress, I decided to ...

Breaking up is hard to do

It pains me to tell you this. But I'm ending CookieCam early this year. It just didn't work out as I planned. Why? Late hours at the job leave me exhausted at night. The last two years I was out of work at 2pm, so I had time to bake AND do housework. And housework is necessary because... ...my inlaws are coming to visit for Christmas. They're arriving in two days, and will be staying at our place... ...so any time we've had free these last 2 weeks, we've spent redoing a room into a guestroom. It ...

On lemons, lemonade, and paycheck stubs

I really didn't want to work the Taste of Home show last night. Not nary in the least. Damon had a personal day yesterday, so I didn't make my 3:30pm start time. Exhausted from a full day of work, I arrived a skosh before 6 and was made an onstage helper. What's that? I, along with two other ladies, got to help the home economist onstage! We brought clean plates in, took away the dirties, put food away -- basically things I don't do in my own kitchen -- in front of 800 people! "You'll be a ...

I'm a star! I'm a star!Presenting my fourth piece for the Courier-Post...Kim, the cookies, and the CookieCam make a seasonal return The above is REQUIRED CLICKING. Everyone must click on it. If the traffic to that story sucks I'll be depressed and you'll be hearing about it in this very blog for days.I'm not sure what photos were used yet, as I have yet to see the hard copy of the paper and (horrors!) the story wasn't uploaded to the site. I fixed that, natch. It's good to be a WebDiva. ;)More ...

Hey you!

Hey you! Yeah you! As you may or may not know, I work for a newspaper. And for the second year in a row, they asked me to write a piece about CookieCam. So if you are not related to me, and don't work for the Courier-Post, email me before 9:00am EST Monday Morning and tell me why you watch CookieCam. You'll have to give me your first and last name and hometown for legitimacy, and you'll be named in my story. Which will be posted on the Internet, so you'll have some fame! ...

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)
