Murphy, April 2021

murphy looking out the door, photographed from behind

Earlier in the year the bottom panel completely fell out of our back screen door. The screen was already gone (thanks, Murph) but now the ‘dog door’ portion is large enough for Ollie to walk in and out of without…

Friday 5: RE:

Time for some lunchtime blogging! I worked for about 5 hours last Sunday, so this workweek officially is 6 days long yet feels 10 days long. This lunch break is an hour long but feels 5 minutes long. Rude. Here’s…

Accountability

graphic that says no photos, just words

Yesterday Derek Chauvin was found guilty on all three charges in the murder of George Floyd. I and millions of others were relieved and almost celebratory. But a guilty conviction on a crime that had multiple eyewitnesses on the scene…

Welcome BrunhIIlde!

It’s hard to say goodbye to a 22 year old Jeep, especially one as special as Brunhilde was to us. On a fateful day in May 2007, WM packed her up with as much as she could carry and drove…

Friday 5: Aca-scuse me?

Hello and happy Friday, friends! I write to you while camped on the sofa in waves of pain. Today is Nephew A’s SEVENTH birthday! Can you even believe this? I cannot. And the lovely Kristen and my brother-who-does-not-read-my-blog rented a…

Show Us Your Books April 2020

Book time! I’m continuing to be gentle with myself w/r/t reading goals and such, but this is another four book update and I am pleased. Because if I *did* have a reading goal for 2020 it would be 50 books,…

Spring Break Wrapup!

I have amassed a staggering amount of PTO at work; therefore, this week was my own personal Spring Break. I took off the same week that WM had off from school and even though we didn’t travel anywhere, we still…

Friday 5: III III III III III

I’m highly editing this first paragraph on Saturday the 10th because I didn’t add my usual linking! The Duke flustered me, I guess. This week’s Friday 5 theme is: III III III III III. I am trying to understand the…

Easter 2021

Time is relentless, dragging you through the days and weeks just like nothing’s wrong. And just like that, it was Easter. On Friday and Saturday I did my usual Easter baking – two Easter breads and two ham pies. J&K…

Sad news

Thursday morning I received news from my father that my cousin had passed. He was only 2 years younger than me. And because he and his family lived in the Marshall Islands, I’m not sure when it’s going to seem…

March 2021 Extras

Here are some photos and thoughts from March that were a little thin for their own posts. Like others, I watched the saga of the Ever Given, the giant cargo ship that was stuck in the Suez Canal. After a…

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)

Well, that happened.
