Friday 5: The course of human events
Hello and happy Friday!
Today is National Complement Your Mirror Day (actually complimenting yourself via the mirror) and National Fried Clam Day (which I can take or leave.)

It’s also Update Your Website Theme Day, and after three years I’ve moved on from the lovely Genevieve theme to Robin, which so far has been pretty easy to customize.
Yes, I’ve lost my header image, my subscribe box, and possibly my site traffic codes but that’s fine. It’s fine! I can find them.
We are off from work today so WM and I spent the morning running around doing chores, which seems to be the adult thing to do on a day off. I need to log into work for a little bit to tend to the budget which is due on Wednesday, but since it’s currently 101 degrees outside, I’m inside anyway. No big deal.
Here is the Friday 5 – this week’s theme is The Course of Human Events which is of course referring to the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. I love my country, but I’m really detesting those in charge and their shortsighted and cruel ways. And that’s on both sides of the aisle.
Democrats sat on their thumbs for decades while using the fear of Roe v Wade and election rights being over turned to raise money for their stagnant, aging, incumbent selves. They let the Republicans run the table with their own scaremongering, divisive messaging for decades and here we are.
It should have been a heck of a party this year with the World Cup happening at the same time. But it’s a sad expo in DC featuring a stage that is falling apart and a stupid drywall arch that’s leaking caulk. Even Nixon and Ford knew how to throw a party.
Okay, Kim. Just answer the questions.
- Declare the causes which impel them to the separation. What have you separated yourself from this year, and what were the causes?
I talked about this already, but I let the ladygypsy.net domain go. GoDaddy emailed me for six weeks after I stopped paying, but it is now well and truly gone and I’m okay with it. I wrote about that back here. - We hold these truths to be self-evident. What truths about daily interaction with people would seem to be self-evident but apparently aren’t?
If somebody says hello to you, you should say hello back. It’s fine not to continue the conversation, but you can’t say we need to have a better society while simultaneously being rude to society. - To prove this, let facts be submitted to a candid world. Which recently learned facts would you like to submit to us, your candid world?
In the throes of this latest heat wave, I learned that it is okay to water plants in the middle of the day. You won’t scorch their leaves. - Opposing, with manly firmness. Lately, what do you oppose with manly, womanly, or otherwise humanly firmness?
This week’s Supreme Court ruling upholding the states that ban transgender athletes from participating in girls’ and women’s sports. I can’t wait for all of the girls and women who aren’t boobed up to the Internet’s standards to have to go through vindictive gender affirming inspections instigated by hyped up angry sport parents. - Ought to be free and independent states. What puts you in a free and independent state of mind?
Being outside in the summertime weather. I am the best version of myself in spring and summer. When I don’t have to wear a coat, I feel like I can take over the world!
Have a great weekend and don’t blow off your fingers.
No Kings!

As a firm believer in never changing anything (which is why my own sites still look mostly like 1999) …it’s lookin’ good!
