February update

Hello, lovelies!

My favorite Snapchat filter. It's slenderizing.
My favorite Snapchat filter. It’s slenderizing.

I was going to quietly sunset this blog after the last post but UGH I miss it too much. So you’re stuck with sporadic updates until I die or retire and can’t afford hosting, I guess.

Today is day 2 of a four-day weekend. I’m supposed to be at Walt Disney World right now, but in December we decided to postpone the trip until fall. So it’s a staycation, if by staycation you mean scrubbing toilets and Magic Erasering streaks on the baseboards.

Watching: WWE and New Japan Pro Wrestling. We can watch 10-month-old NJPW shows on the AXS network. Insane. Insane!

And this, from the Grammys:

Damn, I want to see this play. I’m not even a theater person. And it’s sold out forever and my best chance will be in 11 years when maybe my nephew will have a part in his middle school production of “Hamilton, Jr.” where Hamilton and Burr hug it out in the end.

Reading: Today I’m starting Z: A Novel of Zelda Fitzgerald, lent to me by my lovely coworker DB. All my books are on Goodreads. My goal is to read 45 books this year.

Losing: 14 pounds and counting. My Total Gym incline is hiked up to a whopping level 3 now (of 12, I started at 1), and 8 for squats. I’m working through Yoga with Adriene’s Yoga Camp series every other day.

Most importantly, I’m eating less, which is always the key. We are still cooking a good 95% of our meals at home. I’ve added Mark Bittman’s Pork Stir Fry to my weeknight repertoire (Except I use frozen vegetables instead of fresh greens) and it’s goooooooooooood.

Max: Still alive.

Sleeping, not dead.
Sleeping, not dead.

It’s dark, but we joke that he sleeps so much in weird positions with his eyes half-closed that he’s going to be dead for hours before we notice.

Planning: A vegetable garden. The previous owners had an (unkempt) section divided off (with terrifying rusty chicken wire and pointed sticks) and this spring, I’m all in that. Peppers, snap peas, cucumbers, and tomatoes because I live in South Jersey and it’s in the property tax code that we all must grow tomatoes. It’s going to be in the 60s this weekend so I’m going to measure it out and maybe get some gloves and tear it up! I have no idea what I’m doing.

In the front, I want to plant daisies and hydrangeas. Again, I have no idea what I’m doing.

Which should be the byline for this blog. 😉

Previous Post Goodbye, January!
Next Post Throwback Thursday. And Friday. And Saturday. And Sunday…

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)

Well, that happened.
