(celebrating one year of success!) In the middle of all of the abnormality and fear, the days grew longer and springtime returned. It seemed weird planning for a future in a world that seemed so dire, but I'm not going to prematurely lay down and die from an virus that may not even kill me in the first place. Thus, we're gardening. (insert quiet good-humoured resolve) This post is photo-heavy, so I'm going to pop a more tag after this gratuitous shot of a filthy, tangled gardener and her ...
Angry Man Farms 2019: Outside
So much has changed in 3 weeks! Thanks to this bonehead WM had to make some modifications to the raised bed. The front screen is removable so I can weed and water. He also personalized it, which made me smile. And here are the 3 tomato plants, 2 cherry tomato plants, 2 basil plants, a sweet pepper plant, and a jalapeno pepper plant all of which were just scrawny seedlings three weeks ago. And 4 cilantro seeds, which haven't sprouted yet. One tomato plant and one basil plant ...
Angry Man Farm 2019
I had a really good experience with my herb garden last year. I stuck with it and watered it every morning and weeded it every night and it worked. This year, Angry Man Farm is going BIGGER. You can tell I'm serious because now ... I HAVE A NOTEBOOK. In addition to the 2 raised herb boxes I already have, I'm going to build a 2x4 foot raised bed for the yard. I'm going to ... somehow ... wrap it in chicken wire so the rabbits, squirrels, and Murphys can't get in and eat my seedlings. ...

Sitting here: While I'll be sad to see summer go, I'm pleased that I squeezed in so much outdoor time. Instead of dorking on the internet for a half hour in between each household task, I just do all of the crap at once so I can spend a chunk of that time outside. I've done most of my blog planning here, too. My pepper plants, planted too late, are finally bearing fruit! Er - veg! Planning on planting some lettuce, garlic and beets this fall. Why not try? I may get to be the COO of ...
Peaches and Herb(s)
My herb garden is exploding with goodness! I have fresh basil and parsley whenever I want some, a load of thyme I don't know what to do with yet, and TONS of oregano. I harvested a bunch of it last weekend, thinking that I'd have enough dried oregano to gift all of my family and friends with some. I was designing "Angry Man Farms" labels in my head. I ended up with this much: Yeah. I am not good with estimating size or volume. And then I said to WM, "we should go to the ...
Our lily
This was a plant I rescued from our front lawn. As in, literally part of the lawn, being mowed every few weeks all summer long every year since we moved in 3 years ago. I put it in a pot and left it on the porch. I believe it's some kind of tiger daylily. And despite the pessmistic plant label, it thrived. Allegedly, there are seed pods and I'll be able to grow more. We'll see... ...
Currently, rainy edition
Listening to the continuing rain. It started Saturday afternoon, but I did manage to get some time in at my personal "swim club." The handiwork at the top right is WM's effort to keep Murphy and Jack (the boxer living on the other side of that fence) from meeting. None of the fences that surround our yard are our own, but we do what we can to reinforce them. :) Murphy is on the mend. WM's been up with him every night for the last 3 nights, making sure he gets let out when he has to go. ...
Succulent birdbath garden
Back in April as I was chasing Murphy around the yard I tripped over something that turned out to be a birdbath buried underneath the ivy that covers the back third of our backyard. After some Pinterest researching, here's what we did. The succulents are from Home Depot. The viney things are Creeping Jennys and one of them died shortly after planting. The other four looked sickly, but finally took root. That white coral-looking rock is actually a piece of concrete also retrieved from ...
Around the House
This summer all of the HGTV we've been watching finally began to stick, because we did quite a lot of work around the house. WM built a work bench for the garage. It's spiffy. Next he built some above-window shelves for our stupid and fast-growing collection of Funko POPs. (I love our collection, yet am mortified I keep buying them. This isn't even all of them.) And then I built my first woodworking project since 7th grade - a little shelf for the oversink kitchen cabinet. ...

Eating pounds of Easter bread that I baked this weekend. I am just a load of carbs, and I didn't even have any Easter candy. Waiting for our grass out front to grow. We seeded it 10 hours ago and COME ON ALREADY! We probably have the worst lawn on the street if you don't count the foreclosed house. It's not our fault...there was decades of lawn neglect and we're trying to reverse it. It's just going to take a long time and a lot of cleaning up. Weeding, getting rid of debris and ...
February update
Hello, lovelies! I was going to quietly sunset this blog after the last post but UGH I miss it too much. So you're stuck with sporadic updates until I die or retire and can't afford hosting, I guess. Today is day 2 of a four-day weekend. I'm supposed to be at Walt Disney World right now, but in December we decided to postpone the trip until fall. So it's a staycation, if by staycation you mean scrubbing toilets and Magic Erasering streaks on the baseboards. Watching: WWE and New Japan Pro ...
My defeat garden
(not to become a Victory Garden until it bears edible products) My self-mutilation is healing quite well. I think. Cleaning it isn't so bad and bactine is now sting-free. (Kids are wimps these days...sting-free bactine, custom flavored medicine, gumdrop vitamins). I should have waited to lose the rest of my weight, though...because I still don't feel comfortable in low-rise items. Eh. I was supposed to make an official Ladygypsy.net personal appearance work the Courier-Post Classic Car show ...
