Post-squish

The entire mammogram, from paperwork to exit, took fifteen minutes. The imaging itself took seven. I took 2 extra strength Tylenol an hour before and had no pain, just discomfort. But nothing crippling — the technician and I talked the…

Currently, pre-squish edition

Sitting here: While I’ll be sad to see summer go, I’m pleased that I squeezed in so much outdoor time. Instead of dorking on the internet for a half hour in between each household task, I just do all of…

Friday 5: Lyrical gangsta

Happy Friday. I am tired, sick, sore, and grumpy. So let’s just cut to the chase. The Friday 5 theme is: Lyrical Gangsta. 1. What’s a stupid lyric from a song you like? Me: “Look for the purple banana ‘Til…

Pesto!

This semester, WM has his night classes on Mondays and Wednesdays, meaning I’m on my own for dinners. He’s not a fan of garlicky foods and garlic would my patronus, if a patronus could be a fragrant bulb. Meaning that…

Ollie: please fence me in

Ollie, a very well-behaved dog from day 1, never needed a crate. We just had to make sure he was away from the litterboxes when we had them. Murphy was a crate puppy because that’s what he was used to…

The fruits of a four day weekend

I’m super glad I went to the beach on Friday, because it was the best day of the four days I had off. On Saturday my credit card and I dressed up and met friends for tea at the Mary…

Friday 5: Regionalism

Happy Friday! This is my last Summer Friday of the summer (weeps, gnashes teeth) so I spent it the way I tried to spend every Summer Friday – down the shore. via GIPHY I made that animated gif! It’s 1994…

Peaches and Herb(s)

My herb garden is exploding with goodness! I have fresh basil and parsley whenever I want some, a load of thyme I don’t know what to do with yet, and TONS of oregano. I harvested a bunch of it last…

Show us your books: August 2018

I eked out five books this month. My Seattle trip was heavy on the socializing, and I actually watched a movie on the flight back instead of reading. It was Game Night. It was funny enough and had my problematic…

Currently, summer night edition

Relaxing out in the yard. I feel like we did a lot of outdoor work early in the summer, such as planting grass and ripping out 10,000 dandelions and setting up herb gardens, so it would be a shame to…

Friday 5: Repeat

Happy Friday! On Saturday. Yeah. I’m glad this week is over, as Ollie had dental cleaning/extractions on Tuesday. This is the capstone of our multi-month effort to make Ollie feel better. He’s been suffering from ear infections and neck pain…

Market Tulips

This is a print I bought from Scott Lantz at Pike Place Market. If I lived in Seattle, or had gone to the market at the beginning of my trip, I’d have bought flowers. This is even better. His website…

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)

Well, that happened.
