Frozen Friday 5: Better cliches

It’s cold here. This is highly unacceptable and I am wearing a hat in my own living room. My rings are spinning around my shriveled fingers. The only reason my feet aren’t in misery is because they are underneath 3…

Lynda, the Library, and me

The Big!Work!Project! which surely you are tired of hearing of by now involved new software, and a new-to-us way of writing reports. It’s Crystal Reports, which while it’s new-to-us, isn’t very new-to-me. I was using it over 10 years ago…

Welcome 2018, you beautiful tropical fish!

Happy New Year! I don’t want to jinx it, but I think 2018’s going to be a good one. Or at least better than [period of time that started in November, 2015], which is not a high hurdle to clear….

Farewell 2017, ya filthy animal

I very, VERY easily could rip into this absolute dumpster-fire of a year. Not only a year, but a “season” that started in November of 2015 and has kept on giving. But no, no. Good things happened this year, and…

Happy birthday, blog!

Today my blog is 15 years old! This time last year I was ready to quit it but thanks to the generosity of a friend, I found a better place to move it to. I also gave it a more…

Christmas 2017

I kinda whiffed on Christmas this year. While I started planning in October as usual, this year I: > Didn’t bake a lot of cookies at all, and the ones I did make weren’t all that great. > Bought my…

Friday 5: Makin’ it

From Tuesday’s post: …, but it’s Franken’s passion for doing what (he believes) is right that shines the brightest. Five stars, and I hope Franken serves Minnesota and the rest of us for as long as he wants. I can…

Show us your books: November 2017

I’ve now read 37 books in 2017, tracking 6 books behind where I should be. Boo! Hiss! Do pamphlets count? If I had to fish for an excuse it’s this: I’m 15 months into a 16 month project at work…

Currently, still exhausted homeowner edition

Reading: Gulp by Mary Roach. I’m at 86% and should be finishing up tomorrow. I’m at the gripping fecal transplant chapter. I’ll post this month’s batch of books on Tuesday. Watching: Hallmark Christmas movies! DIY-ing: Remember that IKEA table I…

Currently, exhausted homeowner edition

Reading Al Franken, Giant of the Senate. I’m enjoying his outsider’s perspective on running for a Senate seat and his experiences working in DC. I was inspired to switch my party affiliation to the Democrats, but then Donna Brazile had…

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)

Well, that happened.
