Stupid Sewing Tricks: Mickey Mouse Pillow

You KNOW when I saw a Steamboat Willie remnant in the pile at Jo-Ann that I couldn’t walk on by, right? I aimed for an 18 inch square pillow and it ended up … not that. I have very real…

Show us your books: March 2018

The second Tuesday of the month is a special one in literate blogland – it’s Show Us Your Books day, and it takes me a good week to get through everyone in this linkup. This month I realized that the…

International Women’s Day Gift

WM had this waiting for me on International Women’s Day, which was March 8. It’s the Women of NASA set, featuring Nancy G. Roman, Margaret Hamilton, Sally Ride, and Mae Jemison. I can’t wait to put it together, but first…

Friday 5: Aroma

It was a bumpy readjustment coming back from Florida. On Monday, Dad and I ventured to Camp Holly for an airboat ride, which was JUST as amazing as it sounds! Camp Holly is pretty nice, with beer that flows, an…

Floridian Friday 5 on Saturday: Games People Play

Hello from RetiredLand, Florida! I’m here visiting with Dad for a bit, pretending that I’m retired, too. So far the weather’s been amazing by my standards, but chilly by Floridian standards. It snowed at home yesterday. I am SO SICK…

Friday (Sunday?) 5: Korea Guidance

Firstly, check out this gloriousness: Embed from Getty Images Look at this! Getty Images lets you embed their work on your unprofitable blog now! Actually they started it in 2014 but it’s news to me! Our US Curling boys brought…

Things I love about the 2018 Winter Olympics

South Korea totally has its ish pulled together. No stories of hotel rooms falling apart or bacteria-laden water. The only wrinkles have been the weather which is … cold and wintry! Norwegian curling pants. If you’re on the world stage…

The Year of the Dog so far

(alternate post title 1: Sunday Bloody Sunday) (alternate post title 2: Say hello to my little friend!) Sunday morning after breakfast I was on the floor with the dogs, playing. I had a ball in my hand and was waving…

Safe, Loved, and Warm – where do the guns fit in?

Summary: They don’t! Safe, Loved and Warm is my guidepost for how humanity should be treated. On Valentine’s Day, instead of worrying about if they’d get a card or a carnation at lunchtime, students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School…

Friday 5: Dogs

Thursday’s post about World of Warcraft was auto-scheduled, and I’m glad because after YET ANOTHER school shooting on Wednesday, I wouldn’t have known what to write. Well, I know what has to be written, but that one’s going to take…

End of an era

I finally did it. I cancelled my World of Warcraft account. It’s been months since I logged in and when I totaled the money I spent on entertainment that I didn’t experience, I decided to pull the plug. For now….

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)
