the biggest party night of the year!

And I’m baking a Pumpkin pie. I seriously don’t know what got into me. I usually just buy a pie from the nearest food store and am done with it. This time I used GoogleBase and found this recipe for…

Happy Birthday Baron vonPlaque!

Yes, kids, it’s my long suffering and (somewhat) anonymous husband’s birthday!! Another birthday, another Betty Crocker chocolate cake, and another year of my annoyances. Happy birthday, dear heart, and thank you for being you. (birthday wishes for BvP below, please…)

Lazy Holiday Weekend

I’m sorry, Internet…I’ve nothing exhilirating to blog about. Baron vonPlaque is home visiting his family again, (with my brand new PlayStation Portable) and I’m left to putter about the house, working on computer networks, and the like. I turned down…

Hard eight

As per Mom’s wishes, this afternoon was spent at the Borgata. Again. (The gambling gene runs straight up my Mom’s branch of the family tree…we are unrepentant.) I had a twenty dollar bill to play with. I was going to…

Ow.

I have a love/hate relationship with Valentine’s Day. I know it’s a celebration of love, in all of its sickness and glory. But more often than not, it falls during the workweek and is therefore pretty uneventful for working folk….

Happy Birthday Mom!

Last Swing Dance class: Basically, Thor and I went from knowing nothing about swing dancing to knowing some moves and sucking at them. S’okay…gives us an excuse to practice. 🙂 We switched computer desks today…basicallly because Thor now has TWO…

Dozy New Year

Yesterday was a belated Christmas gift – the temperature was almost 60 degrees! It was a perfect day. I eschewed all invitations in favor of the opportunity to sack out on the sofa, watch some TV, and play some games….

Should auld acquaintance be forgot

This year.. I received my first Rising Star award at work. (Oh, I’m receiving one for 2004 too!) We were approved for a mortgage. And after 7 years of apartment living, we bought a house! …which I almost burned down…

Christmas Wrapup

I can’t believe it’s over. I wait all year for Christmas, I get one measly day off and it’s done. Christmas Eve we went to my cousin Sue’s house. She had “Seven Fishes” Christmas Eve dinner, which is a tradition…

All is calm

Thor’s parents are here, and all is well. In appreciation of their visit, Max crapped in the dining room. Lovely dog. Really. (rolls eyes) I’m dismissing myself shortly. Nothing to do here, except surf the web. So in case I…

It goes both ways

On the way home from work, I passed a Holiday Inn. On its message board was the line, “There is always room at our Inn.” Alert! Alert! Somebody notify the PC police, because I THINK that note invokes the Christmas…

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)

Well, that happened.
