Should auld acquaintance be forgot

This year.. I received my first Rising Star award at work. (Oh, I’m receiving one for 2004 too!) We were approved for a mortgage. And after 7 years of apartment living, we bought a house! …which I almost burned down…

Christmas Wrapup

I can’t believe it’s over. I wait all year for Christmas, I get one measly day off and it’s done. Christmas Eve we went to my cousin Sue’s house. She had “Seven Fishes” Christmas Eve dinner, which is a tradition…

All is calm

Thor’s parents are here, and all is well. In appreciation of their visit, Max crapped in the dining room. Lovely dog. Really. (rolls eyes) I’m dismissing myself shortly. Nothing to do here, except surf the web. So in case I…

It goes both ways

On the way home from work, I passed a Holiday Inn. On its message board was the line, “There is always room at our Inn.” Alert! Alert! Somebody notify the PC police, because I THINK that note invokes the Christmas…

Breaking up is hard to do

It pains me to tell you this. But I’m ending CookieCam early this year. It just didn’t work out as I planned. Why? Late hours at the job leave me exhausted at night. The last two years I was out…

O! The Humanity!

I brought my trusty 3-year-old digital camera to Buca Di Beppo last night to document John’s birthday dinner. Which, by the way, was wonderful. Lotsa pasta and bread and … wow. At Christmas, when Doctor Dave is trim and dashing,…

Black Friday

We’re still managing to kick Black Friday’s ass and send it crying to it’s Momma. We took the Patco Hi-Speedline to the 8th and Market Streets in Philadelphia. Shopped…Strawbridge’s (This one had my coat, in my size, still too expensive)Burlington…

Black Friday, 2004

We arrived at Sears at 5:45 for its 6:00am opening…the prize was a cherished $10 gift card given to the first 200 people. The line snaked around the corner of the building. We were hopeful, but alas, we arrived too…

Thanksgiving 2004

Thankful This morning, as I continued to coax my turkey into the land of the defrosted, I took a look back at what I wrote last year on Thanksgiving so darned if I’m going to write it out again. 😉…

Ring a ding ding, baby

Ring a ding ding, babyWhile I was at Target a few nights ago picking up the cat food and other sundries, I came across a Frank Sinatra Christmas CD. I’m a big Frank fan, but as soon as I saw…

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)
