night

I still wear the ring I got for the 8th anniversary. Sometimes at night if I’m lonely I slide it on my left ring finger so I can remember what it felt like to be married.

Six months, one day

I’ve been living on my own for six months and one day. I have an apartment, now fully furnished. I have a freezer full of food and meals prepared for the next few days. I have a nice little tax…

Is this really me?

I’m trying to cut back on what I spend. I have some holiday bills to pay and I want to replenish my savings accounts which consist of a traditional bank statement savings and a kick-butt INGDirect one – 4.5% monthly…

Super exciting life of newly-divorced woman

I came home on Friday afternoon with the sole purpose of getting all of my laundry washed, folded, ironed and put away. I ended up with a drop-dead-clean kitchen with reorganized cabinets and refrigerator. A win’s a win. But I’ll…

Observation

Being single means that it is up to you and you alone to make sure the back of your skirt isn’t tucked into your waistband before you leave the house in the morning. This responsibilty is larger than that of…

Goodbye 2006

Well, it’s been a year. As I promised myself, I’m at home tonight, reading, playing online, basically cocooning myself from the world. 2006 was admittedly more bad than good for me. I lost a lot. But it’s nothing compared to…

The C-word

Cookiecam. It’ll happen this year, but probably a bit scaled-back. I’ll post up a “program guide” of when it’ll be up. I know all I need to do is start, and I’ll get into it. But my gosh this year…

Holiday weekend epilogue

Black Friday’s marathon ended around 6pm, and we had a lovely dinner at the Macaroni Grill with John and Kristen. Even though I didn’t go for any of the early-morning offers, I put a sizable dent into my shopping list…

Progress Report

Novel progressing horribly. I’m still completely confident I’ll finish by 11/30. Life progressing well. After almost 5 months, I’m starting to find my “normal” again. Starting to go back to doing some of the little things I used to do,…

The name game continues. The third time was the charm at NJ MVC, as I now have a legit driver license and registration with my new (old?) name on it. Once that business was finished, I felt free to continue…

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)

Well, that happened.
