WDW 2022 trip: What we did not like
There are 3 kinds of Disney Parks fans. The first group will never criticize a thing. The second group hates everything that has been added since 1980. The third group, the more centrist group, can love many things and still dislike some things. Hate the sin, love the sinner. That's me. And since Disney is not paying me to post glowing accounts of my trips, here's a list of the things we didn't like. HOWEVER if you are from Disney and wish to comp my trips in the future, I will be the best ...
WDW 2022 trip: what we liked
We indeed made it to Walt Disney World and ooo what a balm to the soul it was, even with weird (and mostly justified) Covid-19 protocols. And most of the thrill was likely of the 'holy crap we're HERE!' variety, because we really didn't think we'd make it. Even at the airport we were waiting for the plane to be cancelled. I'm breaking up the trip into two posts: what we liked, and what we didn't like. Here's what we liked! The schedule was: Day 1 - Magic Kingdom, Day 2 - Studios & ...
Enchantment of the Seas – Day 5
Originally published October 20th on the Royal Caribbean Blog message boards. Friday, October 20 Since our departure time was slated for 9:10am, I set my alarm for 7. We were awake before that though, because at 2am I realized I packed my keys into the big suitcase that I left out last night and what if the bag doesn't make it to Philadelphia and my keys aren't there and how will I get home and I don't want to call my husband and say the keys are lost and .. and ... and... That kind of put ...
Enchantment of the Seas – Day 4
Originally published October 20th on the Royal Caribbean Blog message boards. Thursday, October 19 Day 4: I woke up on my own at 7am, which is good because we had to clear immigration at 9:30. It would have been 11:15 based on our muster station, but since we had an 11am excursion, we got to leave earlier. We got dressed and headed to our beloved windjammer for breakfast. Mom got her usual gluten free grub, I got "fruit" (chocolate covered bananas), some sweet bread with berries in it and ...
Enchantment of the Seas – Day 3
(rabbit rabbit!) Originally published October 19th on the Royal Caribbean Blog message boards. Wednesday, October 18 I woke up on my own at 7:10 which is me still waking up for work, but VERY late for work. We go up to breakfast as usual - I have a pancake, bacon, fruit, and a chocolate covered banana. Mom gets potatoes, bacon, fruit, and a gluten free roll. We have coffee and mimosas because WHY NOT? Captain Toni was in the Windjammer too! He may have just had fruit, which is good ...
Enchantment of the Seas – Day 2
Originally published October 18th on the Royal Caribbean Blog message boards. Tuesday, October 17 I woke up with a start at 6:30am because I was going to be late for work, which of course I was not. I peeked out the window and saw tiny glimmering lights in the distance. "Self," I said. "It's time to go see the sunrise." With Mom as my willing accomplice, we put on some appropriate duds and headed up to deck 9. There were clouds on the horizon so we didn't get the full effect, but it was ...
Enchantment of the Seas – Day 1
Originally published October 17th on the Royal Caribbean Blog message boards Monday, October 16. Woke at 4:30, picked up mom at 4:47 to head to the airport. The rain was falling at a steady clip. Things I hate: > Driving in the rain. > Driving to the airport. > Driving over the Walt Whitman Bridge. Unfortunately, sometimes we must do things we hate in order to get what we want. We arrived at the airport without incident at 5:15 for a 6:55 flight. The gas indicator bonged ...
Currently, post-cruise edition
Moping: Because this time last week I was getting ready for a cruise and now it's OVER and where is my free food? Where are my palm trees? Where are the views like this? Aching: Because I left my anti-inflammatories home and my back ache is back at the same intensity it was before I started the meds. It's been a few months now and I think I'm going to need an xray to see what's going on. Dieting: Tomorrow. My duds are tight. Losing: At Words With Friends, BUT I picked up two ...
Florida travels
Longtime readers know that Dad retired to Florida about 10 years ago. I went down last September after Fall Business Trip #1, and decided to take a quick 4-day spring break trip this year. I mean, how could I pass up on this? The beaches there are 1) free and 2) much less crowded than the Jersey Shore. (Sorry, Jersey Shore, you are my default, but ... yeah.) These pictures were taken on an 80-degree Saturday. ...
Walt Disney World: November 2014
After our Walt Disney World trip in spring, we were pretty bummed. You know what it's like -- you look forward to something for so long and then BOOM - all over. As a result, we decided to embrace our DINK status and plan a trip for November, when NJ schools are closed for the yearly teacher's convention. The time frame overlapped both the last days of the Food and Wine festival in Epcot, and the beginning of the holiday season. Can you handle this beauty? Since our trip began on November 5, ...
Thank you, Virginia Tourism Corporation! (and a Max update)
If you recall, Mom and I went to Virginia Beach for vacation last year and this year. Thanks to a helpful birdie at Wired Stone Designs my blog post caught the attention of Val at Virginia.org. She kindly sent Mom and me a gift pack of goodies! When I was little, we went to Virginia on a family trip and my mom bought an original Virginia is for Lovers t-shirt. So it was fitting that I gave the shirt to her. Being my mom, she let me keep the rest of the swag. There's a plastic tumbler with ...
