What I’m Listening to: Dominick the Donkey

This was on Twitter the other day: And I was a little bit surprised, but not much, because WM says he never heard of the song (and hated it on first listen). As a highly-diluted Italianish-American, I'm happy to fix this oversight for the rest of you! Lou Monte is also the esteemed singer of "Shaddapa You Face," "Lazy Mary," and "Pepino, the Italian Mouse." Look them up at your own risk. ...

What I’m Listening To: Any Pentatonix Christmas Song

Seriously. They're all good. Every song is good. This Youtube playlist is 75 songs long. If you don't want to listen to four hours of Pentatonix (why wouldn't you, what's wrong with you?) I heartily recommend their version of "When You Believe" which I have been listening to heavily all year. My favorite songs on their new Christmas album are "We Need a Little Christmas" and" Jingle Bell Pop" which is a bouncy, happy mix of a bunch of jingle bell songs, and a version of "Amazing Grace ...

What I’m Listening To: A Legendary Christmas

This gem was released in 2018 and it's one of my favorites. I bet it sounds amazing on vinyl, but I just have Alexa play it. My favorite songs are "Bring me Love" and "What Christmas Means to Me." Oh, and "Wrap Me Up In Your Love." OH! And "By Christmas Eve!" AND his version of "The Christmas Song." It's all good, okay? ...

What I’m listening to: Holly Dolly Christmas

It's a fun Christmas Album by country and vaccine queen Dolly Parton! Here's the entire album! The whole album is fantastic. My favorites are "Cuddle Up, Cozy Down Christmas" which is a duet with Michael Buble, and "Christmas on the Square" which is a slappy little hoedown song. I skip "All I Want for Christmas is You" because I can't stand Jimmy Fallon. ...

RealizationsI've been having a devil of a time getting out of bed in the mornings lately. Today, I began to realize why.Reason 1: Have you ever heard of the summer-camp phenonmenon of putting a sleeping camper's hand into a bowl of warm water? The alleged result is that they wet themselves, and everyone chuckles. (Ah, youth! Children are so pure, aren't they?) This morning, as I blinked myself awake, my left hand was up against a small, wirey, sleeping dog. My right hand was touching a large, ...

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)

Advent week 1 - Hope Do not get lost in a sea of Advent week 1 - Hope

Do not get lost in a sea of despair. Be hopeful, be optimistic. Our struggle is not the struggle of a day, a week, a month, or a year, it is the struggle of a lifetime. Never, ever be afraid to make some noise and get in good trouble, necessary trouble. - Representative John Lewis
