La Ratatouille

“Your last Christmas gift came!” WM exclaimed as I came home from work one day last week. He offered me a large, flat cardboard box. I opened it and smiled. He hung it up outside of the kitchen. For the…

Safe, loved, and warm in 2018

I promised myself on my birthday that I would do more to make sure my neighbors (here in NJ and in the USA) can be safe, loved and warm. Here’s how I’m trying to do that in 2018. 1. I…

Winter continues to blow

Another tiny burst of snow, which will melt this afternoon and refreeze tonight and try to kill us all. I’m just feeling better from the fall I took down my own front steps last week. 131 days until Memorial Day.

Stupid sewing tricks

For Christmas, my mom hooked me up with a Singer sewing machine. I asked for one because I am not paying gobs of money for throw pillows and window treatments and cushions. Problem is, I haven’t sewn in a LONG…

Happy first birthday, Murphy!

Happy birthday, Murphy! Although he came to us in April, Murphy was born on January 15, 2017 in Missouri. Judging from his disdain of the dark, he likely spent his first months in a dark cage. He didn’t sell, so…

Our Adventureland bathroom

Once upon a time we had a lovely half-bathroom downstairs. And then we got a puppy! We decided that when we went to work we’d have him stay in the bathroom, because it was larger than a crate and he’d…

Show us your books: January 2018

Due to December craziness, I missed that month’s Show Us Your Books roundup and you know what? I actually missed writing up the summary. Go figure! My Goodreads goal for 2017 was 50 books…I only read 41. Womp womp. As…

Currently, deep freeze edition

It’s 17 degrees out, which is actually warmer than it’s been. We went to MOD Pizza for lunch, marking the first time I left the house in days. Leave it to food to draw me out of my cocoon of…

Frozen Friday 5: Better cliches

It’s cold here. This is highly unacceptable and I am wearing a hat in my own living room. My rings are spinning around my shriveled fingers. The only reason my feet aren’t in misery is because they are underneath 3…

Lynda, the Library, and me

The Big!Work!Project! which surely you are tired of hearing of by now involved new software, and a new-to-us way of writing reports. It’s Crystal Reports, which while it’s new-to-us, isn’t very new-to-me. I was using it over 10 years ago…

Welcome 2018, you beautiful tropical fish!

Happy New Year! I don’t want to jinx it, but I think 2018’s going to be a good one. Or at least better than [period of time that started in November, 2015], which is not a high hurdle to clear….

Farewell 2017, ya filthy animal

I very, VERY easily could rip into this absolute dumpster-fire of a year. Not only a year, but a “season” that started in November of 2015 and has kept on giving. But no, no. Good things happened this year, and…

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)

Well, that happened.
