The Mug Life Chose Me #7: The Valentine Mug

a teal blue mug with flowers, hearts, and postage stamps in shades of pink and yellow

A long time ago, we frequented Starbucks a lot more often, and both WM and I had scads of Starbucks “star” rewards. Starbucks used to have better coffee experiences, but (in my opinion) they have always had lovely coffee mug…

Happy Friday! Today is National Chopstick Day (I’m not great with chopsticks, but I can use them) and National Bubble Gum Day (I was a Way Out Watermelon Bubblicious girl). Holy hell, what a week. Everything’s difficult and the world…

January 2026 cards: Snow one like you

a card with a blue background, white panel with a square cutout. In that cutout are dotted paint snowflakes and one large paper snowflake.

What kind of card do you make in January, after you’ve packed away your red and green supplies? If you’re me, you will always and forever uncreatively go for snow. I have a notebook (I have several notebooks. I have…

Friday 5: ECHO! Echo! echo!

Happy Friday! Today is National Fun at Work Day (I always enjoyed cheesy work activities) and National Big Wig Day, a perfect way to memorialize Catherine O’Hara who died today at 71 years old. She was smart, glamorous, and so…

An Eeyore kind of post

a public domain drawing of eeyore

It’s been a mopey week here in the House on Literary Lane. We were smacked with a snowstorm last weekend, and it’s been so cold that it’s just not melting. The icy coating on top of the snow is so…

My 2026 Vision board

a vision board image with various photos illustrating health, creativity and success

Maybe it’s because my visions are attainable — rather than “hey I’m going to become a figure skater this year!” — but my 2025 vision board (more likely my habit of checking in on it every week) seemed to pay…

Happy Friday! Today is National Security Technician Day (okay), and National Handwriting Day (mine is terrible). And it is my 14th anniversary at TNP, which is freaking wild. Never in a million years did I think I’d still be here…

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)
