Friday 5: No cap
Happy Friday! Today is National Security Technician Day (okay), and National Handwriting Day (mine is terrible). And it is my 14th anniversary at TNP, which is freaking wild. Never in a million years did I think I’d still be here — which is not a dig against the organization as much as evidence that I resolved to job hop and clearly forgot to follow through. I guess I’m more of a loyal employee instead.

I am horrified by what’s unfolding in Minnesota, and heartened by the Minnesotans who are putting themselves on the line to protect their neighbors amid protests and strikes.
One of the reasons I voted for George W Bush (yep, I know, I’ve grown, changed, and continue to repent) was because Bill Clinton’s administration was responsible for 6-year-old Elian Gonzalez being torn from a Miami closet at riflepoint in the name of The Law. Everything old is new again, and worse this time.
It’s impossible to segue.
Here’s the Friday 5: this week’s theme is No Cap, which is slang for no lie.
- When were you most recently looking like a snack?
We passed on dressing up on the cruise, so probably the wedding we attended in October. I don’t have occasions to look like a snack anymore. - What is your current outfit giving?
It’s giving work from home chic: business (a nice sweater) on the top, slob (fuzzy leggings, slippers) on the bottom. - Of stuff you’re consuming these days, what really slaps?
I’m reading Katabasis and it’s really good! I was a little intimidated by the academia vibes, because academics do like to pretend they’re above everyone else, but it’s a book about two genius idiots making an idiot decision so they can continue to be seen as geniuses. Like all modern books, it could be shorter. - What era are you in?
I’m in the era of advocating for myself. - What might you do today to broadcast main character energy?
I don’t even think I’m the main character in my own life, let alone in other’s lives.
And that’s all, folks. I’ll be back Monday with my 2026 Vision Board.
