Sunday 5:Unfinished business

(new fall banner – boo fall!)

Posting this on Sunday because on Friday I went to AutoZone, Goodwill, the Post Office, Dollar Tree, the Container Store, and Wegmans and by the time I would normally blog rolled around I was pooped.

I’m in a big-time “reduce my visual clutter” phase again and while that’s an impossible task overall, I can try my best to keep my zone of the office, my craft corner in the spare room, the pantry, and my closet tidy and navigable. The two bags of clothes I gave to Goodwill (I should switch to Purple Heart or something comparable) contained dresses I wore on my Disney cruises in 2004 and 2005. Why do I hold onto fancy things when I live a decidedly unfancy life I have no idea. Out they went, along with some knickknacks that no longer give me joy (or there is no more room for.)

I bought a replacement headlight at AutoZone and maybe I’ll install that today. At the container store I bought a monitor stand with a shelf to store my notebooks and a space for my keyboard. The stand I *really* wanted costs upwards of $299 but I can’t justify that. I also purchased some items to organize my closet again.

Very mindful, very demure.

Here’s the Friday 5 on a Sunday. This week’s theme is Unfinished business which UGH I hate unfinished business but life is full of it no matter what you do. Here we go!

  1. Which partially-read book would you especially like to finish someday, and why didn’t you finish it last time you read it?
None of them. I make the Did Not Finish (DNF) decision very seriously, and if I abandon a book, I’m not going back to it.
  2. Which partially-watched TV series would you like to complete?
Moonlighting. I only watched the first season. A partially-watched TV series that I won’t be finishing is Ghosts (US version). I watched season one and while I didn’t dislike it, there’s nothing about it that makes me want to continue. I’m currently working through season 4 of Only Murders in the Building and I’m making my way through season 1 of What We Do in the Shadows. I’m not sure what I think about that one yet. It’s funny in parts but I just need one likable character to emerge to keep me going.
  3. Which half-completed task is nagging at you most insistently?
All of them. Possibly the garage but I’m close to writing that off as a lost cause.
  4. Which incomplete project is likeliest to get some attention in the near future?
I have to finish out the spare room (fka craft room). I moved my crafting desk to the corner and completely redid the closet so that I could fit the cubby shelves inside of it. But I need to dispose of a few more of (my) things to make it less jangly and more conducive to creativity.
  5. Which half-consumed item in your refrigerator or pantry are you thinking about right now?
We have leftover rice and leftover chicken in the pantry that I have to toss because they’re too old to be tasty. I do my best with leftovers but leftovers every day for lunch is depressing.

And in the final instance of “unfinished business” my Amazon affiliate experiment ended with my code being turned off because I made $0 in 3 months. Amazon gave me the helpful advice to increase my following first. Thanks, Jeff Bezos!

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)

Well, that happened.
