Friday, December 13

Ten year old Kim with a violin. she is wearing a blouse and knee length skirt, ankle socks and for some reason saddle shoes. a very 1970s-era red sofa is to her left, and to the right is a giant stereo speaker.

Happy Friday, which is National Violin Day and National Cocoa Day. I played the violin for a few years in elementary school. I quit before 7th grade because in middle school practice was before school and I didn’t want to…

This vase is half my age

left: a yellowish ceramic vase with blue spirals and orange suns stamped onto it. R: the bottom of the vase, reading KT 9/5/98

I remember going to Color Me Mine on my 26th birthday and painting this vase. I thoughr the spirals and suns reflected the new-agey girl I thought I was (they do) and that the color choices were very late-90s (they…

A former slob cleans her house: the memory box

two boxes - on the left is a very old cardboard boot box filled with junk I call memories - on the right is a nicer box

Here’s another organizational tip from me, your GenX older cousin/uncool aunt who hates the word “edit” being used for “houseclean.” Do you have a box/boxes of memories that are out of control or literally falling apart? Here’s a little nudge…

Friday 5: Initial Here

friday march 22

Happy Friday, which is also National Bavarian Crepes Day and National Goof Off Day, which I shall observe tomorrow. I’m still in the thick of Covid-24, and it’s turning out to be milder but drippier than Covid-22. I did work…

I’m away for work – won’t be back until Saturday night – but I saw this and it made me smile. Loading View on Instagram And sure, these stars are purchased. But I don’t care. It’s a good picture.

Throwback Thursday: The first Walt Disney World souvenir

In the spirit of Throwback Thursday, I’ve been digging through my memory box – a literal box – of things I’ve accumulated on my journey from miss to ma’am. I have a lot of Disney merchandise hanging around. From the…

Wild, wild, Wildwood days

< Did you ever smell an aroma that took you back years? The other day Max and I went for a stroll around the neighborhood. About 10 minutes into the walk, as Max stared down a squirrel, I encountered the...

RIP, President Reagan

March 30, 1981 was a dreary, rainy day. I was in grade 3, and dressed in my Brownie uniform for my after-school meeting. That afternoon, something happened that we never heard before! The intercom came on, and instead of hearing…

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)

Well, that happened.
