Friday 5: 子供の日 (Children’s Day)

friday may 5

Happy Friday, which also happens to be National Hoagie Day, National Astronaut AND National Space Day (jumping on the Star Wars May 4th frenzy, I see) and of course, Cinco De Mayo. This week Mom, J&K, and Nephews A&B went…

Home improvement superhero – sorta

screen door on a work bench with the screen coming out of the corner

Our back screen door needed some help. The screen on the upper half had holes all through it. And no, not just the natural holes in the screen, extra holes. Larger holes. And three years ago, Murphy tore through the…

April Goals – how did I do?

April goal page from planner - everything explained in text below.

Rabbit rabbit! Another month gone by, another opportunity for navel-gazing self-evaluation. Here were my goals for April. As always, the mental health ones are redacted. TL;DR – not the best month. There were a few things that happened toward the…

Happy Friday, which is also National Hairball Awareness Day, National Blueberry Pie Day, and Arbor Day! For some nonbloggable reasons, these last 2 weeks have been A LOT and I’m hoping to take this rainy weekend as a sign to…

I’m taking a watercolor class and I’m terrible at it!

a palette, some tubes of watercolor paint, and paintbrushes

As part of the subsection of 2023 goals that informally includes “get your ass out of the house” I decided to take a watercolor class through my town’s recreation program. It’s a six-week class that meets for two hours on…

The care and feeding of a fifty year old face

A selfie of me, no makeup, hair barely brushed.

I am not a skin care expert. I am a normal person with a tendency toward laziness who was also gifted with very good genes. My primary concerns are pimples, rosacea, and dryness. Here is my fifty year old face’s…

March cards

display of handmade cards with a nature theme.

For my March card swap, I continued with February’s collage theme but went more nature-y. I used to watch Youtube videos from card creators and their finished products are gorgeous and very well assembled. But they also all seem to…

shelves with a bunch of fake plants and tchotchkes on them

WM found my water bottle. It was on a chair that we never use and slid behind the quilt that’s tossed onto the chair. I’m thrilled to be back to drinking water in the style of 2018. Nephew A’s birthday…

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)

Well, that happened.
