Friday 5: Not your everyday

Happy Friday! Today is National Eyewear Day (I finally caved and bought a pair of readers but have yet to remember to use them), National Higher Education Day (okaaaay), and most importantly, my second Summer Friday. I declared today Kim Day and did things that I enjoy but don’t always get to do if I’m with others. Such as:

friday june 6

> I went out and had an acai bowl for breakfast. I love these things but they’re not everyone’s idea of the best breakfast.
> I had a massage and facial. It’s expensive, but I’m trying to love my body more this year.
> I took my fresh-faced, relaxed, and oiled-up self to the library to check out some books
> I took my filthy Jeep Molly to the car wash
> I spent the evening in my hammock reading Everything is Tuberculosis. Without my reading glasses.

Which is how I’m writing this at 9:00pm. Let’s get to the Friday 5 before I fall asleep! This week’s theme is Not your everyday.

  1. What’s going to be special about this weekend?
It’s the first full weekend of JUNE, the best month. I have no plans other than weed the garden and finish my June cards. And the housework.
  2. When did you last order the special when dining out?
Last Tuesday I had dinner with family and I ordered Iron Hill Brewery’s burger of the day, which was the Halfway to Thanksgiving turkey burger. It was very good, but I’m a fan of turkey burgers anyway.
  3. What’s especially memorable about this past week?
I went out of the house for work two days in a row. On Tuesday I went to the MASAE Mid-Year meeting which was fantastic as always. And Wednesday was our in-office day.
  4. When did you last consult with a specialist of some kind?
I’m not going to count my gynecologist as a specialist, because I consider that part of regular care. Soooo, I think it was the shoulder doc I saw in November. Can I tell you how happy I am that I can move my arm around again? What a drag that frozen shoulder was.
  5. What have you done recently to make someone else feel special?
I try really hard to not be the mean old battleaxe at work, so I always look for moments where I can compliment a coworker. It’s more difficult now that we’re remote (I know, I know, cue world’s smallest violin) but I enjoy making people feel special.

Have the best weekend!

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)

Well, that happened.
