Friday 5: Step by Step

Happy Friday! It’s Valentine’s Day! It’s also National Cream Filled Chocolates Day (yes to all but raspberry), National Organ Donor Day (take it all, I won’t need it) and National Ferris Wheel Day. I LOVE Ferris Wheels and I hope to add another to my collection in just a few weeks.

TNP closed today for the Eagles Parade. We’re not in the office anymore, but I guess a lot of people were requesting the day off. I worked for a few hours anyway because when figuring out how and when I had to move projects along, I didn’t plan on having today off. I *did* mentally budget to have Monday off though.

a shot from the eagles parade. A player is holding up the super bowl trophy but the real focus is a fan's sign that says "Cowboys fans are at work" Nobody likes the Cowboys.
It’s a screencap from a local news broadcast but the lady looks AI’d into the photo

We also had one of our trees taken down today. The entire job took only four and a half hours from arrival to cleanup. I will miss the tree so much (fact: I’ve been crying about this tree for weeks), but it was the right time to have it cut down. If you’re in the SJ area, we used Ryan Bansky and I recommend them 100%. I’m adulting like a pro now, I guess having a house with multiple systems that require maintenance does that to you.

Here’s the Friday 5! This week’s theme is Step by Step and you KNOW I would be remiss if I didn’t add this:

NKOTB 4 LYFE.

  1. When did you most recently follow a recipe?
I followed recipes for some of the new Christmas cookies I made in December.
  2. When did you most recently give or receive directions to some location?
A few weeks ago I painted pottery w/S and I had Google Maps take me to the studio, which is in Pitman, NJ.
  3. When did you most recently follow instructions for assembling something?
I have an Ondrej Palat brick kit that I partially assembled before becoming frustrated and shoving it back into the box. I found a tip which said to use tape to keep the base steady and I’m going to give it a shot again this weekend.
  4. When did you most recently complete a form?
I had my quarterly performance evaluation two weeks ago. Know your worth.
  5. When did you most recently have your routine disrupted?
Today when I had this unscheduled day off and the tree guys came! I’m all disoriented!

And I’m off on Monday too so it’s a Four! Day! Weekennnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd! (even though I’ll probably log in on Sunday or Monday to work. It’s like that right now)

I almost used a lyric from that song as the title this week. When I worked in a summer fun program a million years ago, the second-grade girls taught me how to sing it on a long bus ride to some faraway beach. I still know it by heart. And one of those girls is a respected physician and athletic trainer at the university where I work. 🙂

An Ondrej Palat brick kit? Where did you find that?! I need one of those… just not for the Devils. I didn’t know such a think existed! I would die of happiness if I could find a Henrik Lundqvist one.

Hi! Unfortunately it was a giveaway at a Devils game a few weeks ago. I live a few hours away so I had to resort to eBay.

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)

Well, that happened.
