Friday 5 on a Saturday: On Deck

Happy Saturday, which is also National Spaghetti Day (every day is spaghetti day in my book) and National Trivia Day (I approve!) and also it’s cold January day with a snowstorm possibly on the horizon for Monday. Back in the good old days our office used to give us snow days but now that we’re all remote, it’s just another Monday.

We took almost all of the Christmas decor down today. I’m usually 100% on board with keeping it up until Three Kings day and giving us the full 12 days of Christmas but today we were ready and we didn’t want to chance NOT being in the mood to take it down next weekend. The Christmas villages — have I mentioned that thanks to Mom giving us her Dickens Village collection we have two villages now? — will stay up until next weekend, because they’re a project unto themselves.

Let’s kick into what is technically the Friday 5. This week’s theme is On Deck.

  1. What book are you going to read next?
Oh boy. I missed my reading goal by ten whole books last year and have been forcing myself to read 20 minutes every day. I just finished Win Every Argument by Medhi Hasan which was pretty good. The next book waiting for me is The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle. I have to straighten out my Philly Free Library card so I can get back to borrowing from them.
  2. What movie will you most likely see next?
No idea. I wanted to watch The Holiday over, well, the holiday but we never got to it. Gladiator 2 perhaps? I have no desire to see Wicked.
  3. What are you doing the day after tomorrow?
    Working.
  4. This is going to be a great year, but what are you looking forward to next year?
I *think* the Indiana Jones ride is opening in Animal Kingdom in 2026. That’s really the only thing I know that’s going on in 2026.
  5. What are you looking forward to opening once you’ve used up the current product?
I was using a vitamin C serum from Sephora every day and seeing good results. I “upgraded” to one from Paula’s Choice and it smells TERRIBLE. This bottle will be finished soon (it was more expensive AND smaller) and trust me, I’m flying back to the Sephora brand.

And that’s all for today. Tomorrow I have lunch with a friend and on Monday it’s back to work.

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)

Well, that happened.
