Friday 5: How Do You Do That?

Look at me getting back in the blog swing of things! Sentences like this usually portend my dropping off the face of the earth for weeks again, but we’ll see.

WM bought this for me to commemorate my 3 months of yoga practice!
WM bought this for me to commemorate my 3 months of yoga practice!

Currently I’m flopped on the sofa recovering from a very flow-y yoga practice. This fitness thing sucks. It takes up time and leaves me tired. Bah. I do feel stronger and more flexible though. But I miss that extra 35-40 minutes of sofa time at night.

I got some REALLLLY good news about my Fall Business Trips. I didn’t do a spring trip but I’m taking 2 in fall. And boy oh boy oh boy have I lucked out. I’ll spill details once the travel is booked.

It’s supposed to snow tomorrow. I’m glad I’m procrastinating on getting seeds/plants planted, because they would certainly die this weekend. Related to gardens, we didn’t see this house until later in April last year. By then, the lawn was mowed and all evidence of the weedy mess that actually IS our lawn was destroyed. Our lawn = clover, dandelions, and wild violets accented with tufts of weird grass.

This week’s Friday 5 theme is How do you do that? Let’s get started!

1. When you draw a five-pointed star, which point do you begin with, and where do you go from there?

I had to draw one to answer this! I start at the bottom and draw the first line upward. Then bottom left, upper right, horizontally to the left and back down to the start. (6:00 -> 12:00 -> 8:00 -> 3:00 -> 10:00 -> 6:00) That doesn’t make a perfect star, but it is what it is!

2. On a typical day, in what order do you put your clothes on?

On a typical day, I shower the night before. The order is: bra, shirt, sweater/topper (if worn), tights/skirt OR pants/socks. Then shoes. Underwear are clean from the night before.

3. When packing for an overnighter, what are you likely to pack too much of?

Underwear! Every trip I bring home at least 2 clean pair but you never, ever know what can happen.

4. How particular are you with laundry chores?

I’m very wash-and-wear. WM is more discerning with how his stuff is washed. He also irons his clothes. I … don’t.

5. How are your bookshelves organized?

We have many, many books. WM does the bookshelf organizing, so I asked him. He said we go by subject and then author. Most of his books are history, fantasy, or biography. Then I go and mar his intelligent flow with my shelves of pitiful self-help books, Little Women, and Anne Lamott. (I love Anne Lamott.)

Have a fantastic weekend!

You may be the only person in the world who begins with 6:00 to 12:00! So your stars have two points at the top and one at the bottom? That’s cute, but I think it’s weird.

No, wait. You have two points west and one point east. I get it. Sideways, if there were such a thing with stars.

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)

Well, that happened.
