Victory!

With all my right-winged-nut-jobness in the post below, I forgot to give y'all a math lesson.50% off sale + 20% off coupon + $10 shopping pass =and Gentlemen, meet the coat.Edited to add: The original coat I fell in love with was cream colored, as mentioned in the previous post. I figured that the pink/blue coat would be easier to keep looking clean than cream. Same coat, different color. :) ...

Black Friday postmortem

15 hours after we embarked on our endeavor, I am home.We dined at Buca di Beppo, then fueled by Pepto Bismol, we went to The Promenade to cap off our night. It was powerful cold, so we only mustered the energy to do two stores:Blue Tulip (Mom bought me an ornament for driving her around all day.)Douglas Cosmetics Bought nothing, but discovered Too Faced, a cosmetic company that makes lip balm called "Bunny Balm" and has an eyeshadow color named "George and Weezy."What we do sounds insane when ...

Black Friday

We're still managing to kick Black Friday's ass and send it crying to it's Momma. We took the Patco Hi-Speedline to the 8th and Market Streets in Philadelphia. Shopped...Strawbridge's (This one had my coat, in my size, still too expensive)Burlington Coat FactoryStarbucks, but the line was too longLord and Taylor (Saw the legendary Christmas Light Pageant I saw this as a tiny girl, and it was a kick to see that even though the store's ownership has changed thrice, the light show remains)We ...

Black Friday, 2004

We arrived at Sears at 5:45 for its 6:00am opening...the prize was a cherished $10 gift card given to the first 200 people. The line snaked around the corner of the building. We were hopeful, but alas, we arrived too late.Other stores hit so far:Strawbridge's (Moorestown)Rack Room shoes (remind me to tell you about this)JC Penneys (missed getting the free Mickey Mouse snowglobe)Strawbridge's (Cherry Hill -- my coat...sold out)Silver Diner (Me: Caramel French Toast and a hot cocoa - NOT the way ...

Love and Loss at Cherry Hill Mall

Love and Loss at Cherry Hill MallDays until my birthday: 3Birthday cards received: Today's mail brought two, one from Stein Mart (I'm a preferred customer) and one from Dad, with a lovely Lowes Gift card! Thanks, Dad! I'll probably use it to buy new bolts to bolt down the downstairs toilet with. It moves when you sit on it. Freaky weird. Total bday cards = 4.Weight: 156.5 (+1.0 -- see? Doesn't look so bad now after the last few days, hm?)Mood: Still freaking giddy. No clue why. I guess it has to ...

Haddonfield and furniture shopping

So yesterday, Thor and I decide to skulk through Haddonfield. I was surprised that he agreed, since guys and shopping usually don't mix. Especially guys and shopping in consignment shops and antique-y places. We browsed a few shops and had lunch. Then Thor said, "Hey, let's go look for a bedroom set." I said, "OK, but let's hit the candy shop first."(I had a Sugar Daddy pop. Cost 25 cents, and took me over an hour to finish. Mmmm)We didn't want to go to Levitz becuase they really screwed with us ...

Happy Monday!

The bitter cold air has moved into my mid-Atlantic abode. Drizzly on the drive to work this morning. And it's Monday, which adds a pallor of dreariness anyway. This morning I found a tag sewn into my Ann Taylor skirt that I bought in August in Hollywood. It said, "Remove before washing or wearing." I cut it out this morning, and it contains one of those magnetic inventory tracking devices! Yes, they TELL you to cut the tag out but it's hidden deep down into the skirt so it's hard to see. Of ...

a right good weekend

As weekends go, this was a right good one.Today I rolled out of bed at TEN am! I'd not slept that late in ages, and it felt very good. I'm looking forward to my schedule moving to 8:30 - 5:00pm. It'll be nice having an age-appropriate bedtime. I'll be very well-slept. We just have to find an early-morning solution for the site. I hope this is my last early week.We had some gift certificates to burn, so Thor and I decided to head to Cherry Hill Mall. Echelon Mall is 1/4 mile away, but Cherry ...

Bedtime blog

This, baby, is why I got a laptop. Snug betwixt my sheets, I can surf and read until my eyes droop. And tap out my great American novel. Dunno what it's about yet, though.Saturday, which ended 40 minutes ago, was very eventful indeed!I started off my day with a trip to Target. Well, scratch that. First, I detoured myself to Coffee Works, an independent coffee shop very close to me, for a large chai latte. I had the entire store to myself, and paged through the free (and uber-liberal, yuck!) ...

Achey...Yesterday Mom and I completed almost 14 hours of Christmas shopping. We started out in the dark, and wrapped it up in the dark. Shopped in 3 different zip codes. Over 15 different stores. We kicked butt. More details (with photos!) tonight or tomorrow.Today my legs are killing me! :P Tonight we go out with the Blackwells for dinner and to see Disney's Haunted Mansion movie. Yes, it IS always Disney with us. ...

February 10, 2003 – morning

So much to blog about, so very little time until my ads are converted...T'was a busy weekend to say the least. On Saturday, Mom and I went and did a bit of shopping at Rack Room Shoes and Target. (plus lunch at Panera). I bought two pair of shoes -- a trashy pair of denim high heeled mules and a pair of black "faux-suede" boots identical to my brown ones. They look soo chic that I had to build an outfit around them today! Saturday night was the wings game -- the Wings lost 12-9 to Rochester. ...

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)
