Review: A Rogue by Any Other Name

A Rogue by Any Other Name by Sarah MacLean My rating: 3 of 5 stars I used to read romance novels in high school. Never the entire book, mind you. Just the dog-eared passages passed around under the cafeteria tables….

Brothers and very best friends

We’ve been having a lot of thunderstorms lately. During a particularly nasty one, the zoo was hunkered down on the sofa with me. And this happened. Yes, that’s Charlie and Ollie “holding paws” during the storm. If I could freeze…

Stupid beading tricks: Sprite bracelet

A few years ago at Bead Fest Philadelphia* I bought two bottle cap beads because I thought they were the most unique and happy beads ever. And they are! But I had no idea what to use them for. I…

Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore review

Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan My rating: 4 of 5 stars I think I may have done this book a disservice by reading it after the Goldfinch, but you know what? It’s a darn charming little book. It’s…

There's a great future in plastics

Inspired by the Instagrammers who photoshop/picmonkey the life out of themselves, I downloaded an app called Perfect 365 to see how I could improve my online presence. Here is my before and after. On the left, I’m made up as…

Stupid beading tricks: Orange flower

I bought this enameled pendant from Jade Scott back in 2012, and of course all of the ideas I had for it disappeared as soon as I received it. So I saved it. And waited. And waited. One night, the…

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)

the wombsday clock graphic with two teal haired women in white rockers. It has reached 12 months and there are teal and white stars all over the graphic.
Well, that happened.
