Friday 5: Intense intents in tents

friday june 13

Happy Friday! Today is National Random Acts of Light Day (this is lovely!) and National Golf Cart Day. I believe golf carts are a scourge and do not belong on streets. From a car driver’s AND a frequent pedestrian’s opinion,…

Mary Oliver Devotions: A Thousand Mornings & Swan

Mary Oliver Devotions, with a bookmark in it on top of a notebook. My purple fountain pen is next to it. The cover has a photo of a woman spoonfeeding a small bird.

I’m slowly making my way through this Mary Oliver collection because once upon a time I wanted to add more poetry to my life. It was supposed to be an every morning exercise, but now it’s once in a while….

Wordless Wednesday 2025: Week 24

a mural in philadelphia featuring a shoulders-up painting of a young Black woman with the text of the declaration of independence over it. it's called 'declaration'

Some words: I love the murals in Philadelphia. This one is called Declaration and given the state of this country and its perpetual persecution of POC, including ICE raids in American streets and police shooting at people who are peaceably…

Journal prompt: reframing regrets

The text reads "Regrets, I've had a few, but then again, too few to mention. My Way written by Paul Anka, performed by Frank Sinatra." There is a glass of whiskey in the background

From time to time I hit a writer’s block here and fall silent. Especially when things are burbling around me that aren’t my stories to tell. Luckily, the internet provides many journaling prompts that I can lean on to help…

A new planner (cover)

a beige planner cover, closed, with a croco print and a curved flap.

I’ve been using paper planners for years now, and I’m happy to report that the Cloth & Paper inserts that I first purchased in 2020 are not only still gorgeous, but still working for me. But after 4 years, the…

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)
