Happy Friday! Today is National Joe Day (always relevant), and National Scribble Day (a holiday about my penmanship?). It’s also the day before I fly to Nashville for TNP’s Annual Conference. I’m packed and ready and hoping the TSA lines for a mid-morning flight are less crowded than what I’ve seen for early morning flights.

Murphy’s X-rays came back showing something on his lung that could be a mass or could just be a wrinkle based on how he was positioned. I’m of the mind that this is not bad, because I know a lot of people who have had lung spots turn out to be nothingburgers. I should be more concerned, but the vet wasn’t ringing the alarm about it, and quite honestly we’re still trying to get him to keep food in.
After he had a terrible Tuesday night with loose stools, burps, and a very loud gurgling belly, and after I spent those wee hours of the morning with 16 tabs open, we (with the vet’s approval) started him on a low-fat diet. His symptoms line up with pancreatitis, which is something the vet offhandedly mentioned before we were distracted by the spleen. We’ll see how this goes, and then we’ll get the splenectomy scheduled. It’s a lot, but he is not riddled with cancer and for that I am grateful.
Webkeeping: Much thanks to JK for helping me get a secure site certificate (SSL) up and running in the 11th hour. No thanks to SSL.com for stringing me along for three days when their own site wasn’t working.
The Friday 5 hasn’t been updated yet (no shade, I forgot Wordless Wednesday this week!) and I need to hit the hay soon so I’m going to use this random question generator to give me some blog fodder.
- Have you ever saved someone’s life?
Nope. - What’s the last book you gave up on and stopped reading?
I had to consult the brand-new Goodreads “did not finish” shelf to remind me that I bailed on The Comfort Book by Matt Haig. I remember it being a collection of random thoughts and I wasn’t inspired by it. - Do you ever sing when you’re alone? What songs?
I’m never alone. The closest I get is when I’m in the shower, and lately my song of choice has been Don’t Look Back in Anger by Oasis. It’s cathartic. I also like ABBA’s Chiquitita. - When people come to you for help, what do they usually want help with?
There is a software system at work that I was silly enough to read the help files on and learned really well. People ask me questions about that all of the time. We’re switching away from it soon (again) and I look forward to not being an expert and reclaiming some of that time for myself and my department. - If you had to change your name, what would you change it to?
Oooo. That’s a good one. I have nothing against Kim, but I’ve always loved Cassandra for myself.
And that’s it for me, friends! I have a post scheduled for Monday and I’ll be back home Wednesday night.
