Friday 5: Wanderlust

Friday March 20

Happy Friday! I’m tossing aside the usual National Day discourse because today, my friends, is the first day of spring here in the Northern Hemisphere. It has been a long, cold winter. I’m the best version of myself in spring and summer. The Mister Softee truck just drove by. Welcome spring.

Things here are…alright. Murphy’s back to his digestive issues and while the vet swears it has nothing to do with the spleen mass, a girl has to wonder. He isn’t eating anything new or different and he hasn’t gotten into anything so I don’t know why he’s ill every few days.

I have five blog drafts that I can’t finish because I’m too nervous about him and nervous about leaving him for the work trip and meh about everything else.

This week’s Friday 5 theme is Wanderlust and the older I get the more I want to travel to new places. WM is a wanderlusty guy so I’m letting him play along.

  1. Among cities you’ve never visited, where would you like to travel for their food?
    Me: ROME. Rome.
    WM: Tokyo.
  2. Among cities you’ve never visited, where would you like to travel for entertainment?
Me: Tokyo. I want to spend a few days there, sleep in a tube hotel, try every vending machine, and then head to Tokyo Disneyland!
WM: I would like to go to the Sydney Opera House.
  3. Among places you’ve never visited, where would you like to travel for scenery?
Me: Paris. Give me every tourist trap and baguette I can handle and then I’ll head to Disneyland Paris!
    WM: The Grand Canyon
  4. Among places you’ve never visited, where would you like to travel for activities?
Me: Do the Northern Lights count as an activity? If so, I want to go to Sweden in the winter.
WM: Tokyo, because I’d love to do Tokyo Disneyland.
  5. Among places you’ve never visited, where would you like to travel for history and culture?
Me: The United Kingdom. It covers a lot: London, Scotland, parts of Ireland.
    WM: Petra.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend, and I hope my dog feels better.

(and I have to update my site’s security certificate before 3/26.)

I can endorse Rome for food. Of course, it’s been a while since I was there (*cough*, four decades), but I’d go again in a heartbeat.

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)
