Happy Friday! Today is National Fun at Work Day (I always enjoyed cheesy work activities) and National Big Wig Day, a perfect way to memorialize Catherine O’Hara who died today at 71 years old. She was smart, glamorous, and so so funny. Moira Rose on Schitt’s Creek was one in a million and her wig wall (there’s the tie-in) was epic.

And she was perfect in every way as Mickey in A Mighty Wind. I’m a little heartbroken from this newest sad event which tops off a month of sad events in the USA. I believe we can fix what’s broken, but it’s going to take work and being brave.
This week’s Friday 5 theme is ECHO! Echo! Echo!, which refers to stories from Greek mythology.
- When have you flown too close to the sun?
Ohoho, too many times I have opened my mouth at work and ended up having to do the very thing I suggested could be done. - In which realms do you seem to have the Golden Touch?
I’m very good at New York Times crossword puzzles now. I used to be terrible, failing the Thursday-Sunday ones but just like everything else, it takes practice to understand the nuances of certain clues and a bit of memorization, eg: Alda, Asta, and Aoki. - Which of your parents’ wisdoms have you echoed for others?
Wash your hands. - What are the dangers of looking back?
I think nostalgia is dangerous in large quantities. Getting caught up in how good things were makes it difficult to see how good things are now. And even though they’re not, we can’t fix them unless we look forward. Does that make sense? (the Orpheus reference reminds me that I really want to see Hadestown) - Among your creations, what could you fall in love with?
While you may think it would be one of the greeting cards I created, it’s not. I am obsessed with the Spaceship Earth wall art I created a few year ago. You can see it here. It’s a 2 foot diameter wooden circle that I painted with various shades of gray to look like the triangles on the Epcot attraction. I followed a tutorial for a full wall, but obviously shrunk it down.
I am in love with Spaceship Earth. Even seeing it from a distance makes my heart soar. It’s gorgeous.
I’m going to hit the sofa with Murphy and probably be asleep by 10. This weekend I’ll be finishing my Valentine Cards (oh my God they are so futzy and complex and cute) and getting back on the postcards to voters train.
I’ll be back Monday with a look at my January cards.
PS: Hello Nephew A! Mom Mom told me you read my blog. I’m happy to have you here! Here are three things you need to know. 1) Sometimes my language is salty. 2) Your father is a goober. 3) I love you and your brother to bits.
