Friday 5: Labor

Happy Friday! Today is National Repeal Day honoring the end of Prohibition and Bathtub Party Day. I do have a tub and I have never taken a bath in it, even though I love taking baths in hotels. I’m a strange bird.

This was my last five day workweek of the year. Woo-hoo! It was a very productive week because I was prioritizing and triaging like a boss. If I can continue this pace the rest of the month I can have a worry-free holiday break!

On the home front, I continue to freeze cookie dough and prep for Christmas. Tonight I’ll start writing out the holiday cards I made.

Here’s the Friday 5! This week’s theme is Labor.

  1. At work or school, what tasks do (or did) you find strenuous, while everyone seemed to find them easy?
I can’t think of anything, but if you flip the question, I find making and receiving phone calls very easy while others would do anything to never have to deal with the telephone. Making phone calls isn’t my favorite thing to do, but they’re not difficult.
  2. Do you prefer difficult tasks that don’t take long, or easy tasks that take hours?
Definitely easy tasks that take hours. The time flies and my brain isn’t drained.
  3. What are the ideal conditions for doing your work (defined however you want) best?
I enjoy working with some soft music. Otherwise, I do best when it’s quiet. I do not have these optimal working conditions when I work from home. Today, we had a knock on the door from a police officer asking about my neighbor who is mentally unwell. At least he wasn’t trying to sell me solar panels.
  4. What kinds of tasks have you performed under the “other duties as needed” part of the job description?
Once upon a time, I filled in as the Courier-Post’s mascot “Spot News.”
  5. What other duties as needed are likely to fall to you in your personal life this week?
I need to clean the stupid ice machine. I hate cleaning the ice machine and I would go back to freezer ice in a hot second, except our freezer is too packed for ice trays and then I’d just be filling them every single day.

Did I say Kim’s Favorite Things would be this week? I did! Well, let’s shoot for next week.

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)

Well, that happened.
