Happy Friday! Today is National Pickle Day (bread & butter chips and sweet gherkins for me, thanks!), National Seat Belt Day (always), and National Spicy Guacamole Day! Guac was an acquired taste for me. I didn’t really enjoy it until about 15 years ago.

I went back “to” work on Wednesday and finally completed some tasks today. Yay for Corporate Kim! I’m still under the weather, so once I’m finished with this post I’m hitting my sofa with a Diet Dr. Pepper, a book, and my dog.
Let’s hit the Friday 5! This week’s theme is eight tiny scorpions which I believe is a Nightmare Before Christmas reference, but I could be wrong. Haul out the holly, because tonight I get to be Santa Claus!
- If you were Santa Claus, what might you change about your job without destroying the season’s traditions?
I’d give toys to all children regardless of their religion. Santa is secular and joy should be universal. - If you were Santa Claus, what snacks would you like children to leave out for you?
Doritos and Diet Dr. Pepper. Easy question, really. - If you were Santa Claus, how would you spend December 26?
On an island in the Caribbean, staring up at coconut trees and watching hummingbirds feed from the tropical flowers. - If you were Santa Claus, what would you put under your own tree?
I can’t imagine Santa wants for anything, but if I were Santa and putting a gift under Kim’s tree, I’d give her a giant check that could pay off her mortgage. And perhaps a Steam Deck. - If you were Santa Claus, what songs would be on the playlist you listened to in your sleigh Christmas Eve?
One of my favorite Christmas albums is Barenaked for the Holidays by Barenaked Ladies. I also enjoy John Legend’s A Legendary Christmas. I’d sprinkle in some classics by the Ray Conniff singers for balance. And Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, but only the version that contains “until then we’ll have to muddle through somehow” because there’s always room for a little melancholy. Sorry, Frank.
And that’s all! This weekend we’ll put away the Halloween decor and I may start decking the halls.
I’ll be back Monday with … something. I used up all of my extra content while I was gone so I’m scrambling. Until then, since I got to be Santa in this post, let’s have Mrs. Jessica Claus (aka Shirley Booth) sing us out!
